    Small update

The latest build (52) has a few changes, specially in regard to eA modules (amplified) and volume.
Some things to know about the HQCT-eA volume settings. The volume can only be changed via software, something (program/driver) has to send messages via USB to the device in order to control it. You can use CPCTuner for this or Diogenes’s software that’s available via www.xtronics.be . (Contact Diogenes for info if you want to write your own.)
With the latest CPCTuner (build 52) it functions like this:
    - Start CPCTuner
    - Depending on the selected sound source in the settings file the amplifier volume will be set according to the following rules:
o Tuner: Amplifier volume is set equal to Windows main volume, when Windows main volume is changed the amplifier volume will follow. (The slider on the CPCTuner window isn't updated yet.)
o Other input source: Amplifier volume is set to maximum, when Windows main volume is changed the amplifier volume will NOT follow.
    - When sound source is changed amplifier volume will be changed like previous rules.
    - When CPCtuner is switched off the amplifier is muted, the last used sound source is saved.
So far about the volume. (BTW you can download build 52 from my website now)
If you don't want to use CPCTuner with an eA to enable your amplifier you can use the white wire to switch it on/off.

    Cheers!

It seemed like I'd fried my monitor for a while, so i haven't tested until now. (monitor was ok. pew)

I am not sure the rr sw is working. The app starts and I can set a frequency but I do not get any sound. Just noise. My antenna might be poor, but I think I should get more than static.

Anyways, CPCTuner did not start at all, so there must at least be one problem there.

I have tried to get sw from www.xtronics.be but their site seems not to be working that well for quite some time now.

    Hope you can help Luc

    Hi B,
That the original app starts is normal, it even starts without having a HQCT module connected. This is not the case for CPCTuner, when CPCTuner cannot connect it stops working. I'm beginning to suspect that there is something wrong in your hardware setup. . Put a simple copper wire (multicore) into the antenna connector of your HQCT, this should be sufficient to receive any local FM radio stations Then start the original software and try to tune into a known strong frequency, you should here something else then just static. If this is not the case check your hardware, then there is a hardware problem.
I'm not sure but I thought that the original software also has a mute function or turn the volume low, you should be able to here this change in volume, even when only static is received.
    What could be wrong:
    - First check voltages, +5V and +12V, a minor deviation is normal but not more then a 1 volt for the 5V connection.
    - Then check your USB cable, I've had a faulty USB cable here on my testrig, Windows connected to the device and didn't gave any errors, however CPCTuner could not start. I replaced the cable and all was well again. (This could be your problem).
    - Try to connect the HQCT to another PC, something tells me that you have at least 1 other PC in your house to work with .
    - Last option is that there is something wrong with your HQCT but I know that Diogenes tests all modules before he ships them so this is probably not the cause of your problem. Of course it could be the case but not likely.
I could send you a program later today or tomorrow that shows USB telegrams that are send from the HQCT, if this shows no telegrams then you have a hardware problem.

I've spoken with Joachim (xtronics) a few days ago and he confirmed me that the i and the e version both have the same hard- and software so there is no reason why my software cannot detect your HQCT unless there's something else wrong, sorry.

    Success!

    Hi Luc

I now have a working HQCT! I connect the unit to my other PC and was very surpriced to see it working. I had never earlier felt any responce from the HQCT-e. Brave by the success I also tried your newest sw and that too worked.

Then I tried on carputer and it worked there too!?!

Very strange indeed. I have not done anything! Maybe you remember that I've used your logger before to try and debug and there was defenitely traffic going on on the USB coms.

Well, I am happy to have come this far, and thanks for your help. Lets see what happens with the CPCSuite :-)

    Couldn't find more smilies

I will start a thread about CPCSuite at the beginning of next year, I'll need some time to prepare myself a little.

    Cheers,

    Hi Luc,

Been away for a short while, so catching up again

Am I correct in understanding that if I want to control my HQCT-eA I use CPCTuner first to set the input I want then jump back into RR?

If I understand correctly I'm beginning to wonder what possible value the HQCT-eA has in automotive environment. Of course I may have got the wrong end of the stick.

    Cheers

    Carl

    Hello Carl,
Both CPCTuner (via Windows messages) and my DLL allow third party software to change both volume and input switching for all HQCT modules. Only problem is that no frontend supports these functions for the moment, developers need to implement them into their FE's. PaulKaye a user on this forum was working on a RR interface with the DLL. Perhaps you can send him a PM to ask him about any progress in this matter. Also Aeroanderz is working on a plugin for Streetdeck, a little patience is required in this business I guess .

    Cheers,
    Luc

    Thanks Luc,

No problem with having to be patient with individuals developing software for commercial products, thats a given.

What isn't acceptable are commercial products marketed as compatible, operational & supported when in fact the reverse is true. I'll drop Paul a line as you suggest.

    Cheers

Beeing the DLL producer is not easy. I've been on Luc like crazy for modifications/fixes and feature requests.

    I see great potential..

    Hello PutPut,
can you insert the PI-Code in HQCTReadDataBuffer ? This is needed for showing Radiologos in Frontends.
