Is anyone any closer to getting their -eA working with RR in the mode that the manufacturer intended or are folks running multiple applications and volume controls to control the -eA tuner and amplifier section still?
I got a PM from Paul saying that he'd got his working with freedrive I think it was but it needed a fair bit of software development.
My -eA is making a great (and expensive) book end for the time being

Hi guys, I have tried all that was mentioned but i still cannot get my HQCT to work with my SD. Can anyone help as i would like to work on this for the weekend?
Cheers guys
Hi Fama,
How is your HQCT connected?
Is it connected to the line in of the PC and the PC to speakers
OR
is the PC's line out connected to the HQCT and the HQCT to the speakers?
I have the later of these two cases and my HQCT media manager addin is customized for that scenario. I have no possibility of testing the other. I can generate a package from my latest source so you can see if it fits your purposes. (I no have linked PC's master volume to the HQCT volume, so it will work best in the second case above..)
I use SD with my HQCT on a daily basis and have been doing so for a couple of months..
Search the forums for HQCT media manager and streetdeck (under Digital mods in the Streetdeck forum).

(From yur spec's our hardware setup is almost identical.. )
Hi putput! Long time no see.
I have upgraded my PC and have not run HQCT for a long time. Now I had problems again when trying to install it on my new PC.
Turns out the cable to the connector was very badly crimpt. I light pull and red, a white end and the orange fell off!
And downloading from http://direct.xtronic.be/downloads still does not work! Some things never change...
For some reason I cannot tune to any station! Very strange. It seems like it is working though, so I will work on that one when I start installing in car (still have everything on my desk!)
How is CTCSuite coming along? Are you still planning on making your own front end?
I'm thinking of 'upgrading' from my HQCT-eA radio to the SiLabs radio, but I'd like to keep the eA as an amplifier. I figured it would be quite easy, but at the first hurdle I've found that if the HQCT and SiLabs devices are both connected to the PC via their USB connections, then the HQCT stops responding. Has anyone else tried this?
Hi Bes,
Sorry for my 'quick reply', still working hard on all sorts of stuff except for car-pc's and software.
Success with your install!
Also sorry to hear that not everything is what it was ment to be in regard to HQCT. I believe that the main intention/idea was to develop a piece of hardware and an example program so that when the hardware became available frontend developers and others could write source code to fit it into their software. Apparently the hardware is a little complex to control and not many people succeeded in writing a working application for the thing when it came out. And now that the HQCT introduction-hype is long gone most frontend developers (except for CF, cAve Live and maybe a few others I don't know about) don't want/need to write a plugin anymore, even now when a working DLL is available (not meant to flame anyone, just something I've noticed. Why isn't there a descent RR plugin available for HQCT?). Also the lack of good open source RDS decoders (according to my humble opinion RDS stands for Really Deep S**t) is something that makes it difficult to get the thing working ok. All this has given HQCT not the credit that it deserves I think. When looking at the hardware I believe it is still the best thing arround what USB controlled radios for cars are concerned. Although I must say that there is still hope on the horizon, we (XTronic, Datalex and myself) had a meeting a while ago and decided to put more effort in software support. This has to result in a HQCT controlling application with a simple programming interface that is able to handle requests from more then 1 user application, and with support for all HQCT modules. Not gonna tell more about this, we need to do some work before we start making promisses.
Ok, enough wining, lets do something useful like answering peoples questions!

Luc
Hello Paul,
Long time no see!
I just did a test and both HQCT-eA and Silabs are working perfectly together on my developer PC without any problems, even when plugged in into the same USB hub. Only thing is that the Silabs dongle has a lag of a second or something and when both are tuned to the same station you can hear some sort of echo, strange effect I must say ;-).
Regards,
Luc
Hello there. My man!
It's always in waves isn't it. Currently I am doing a push since I've booked time for installation in car with local car audio firm the 26'th! Since I've still haven't heared anything usefull from the radio (no proper antenna) my expectations are high (2,5 years later)
Sounds promissing that you are still commited.
Is maybe the HQCT to expensive?... Are people going for web radio?... From what I've heard XM in the US is compatible with AM in sound quality, so that can't be it, can it?
B-O
Waves, you mean like in ups and downs ... yep, after almost 40 years in this life I'm pretty much convinced that the meaning of life is going up and down ;-)!
And of course it's true that HQCT isn't cheap but according to what I here from Datalex it still sells pretty well, not with dozens a day but they sell HQCT modules on a regular basis mostly with ups and downs (yet again).
And web radio, a 128kb connection consumes over 50MB per hour, with current wireless internet costs over UMTS... not my cup of tea I think ... And AM quality, this is something my grandparents used to listen to in the second worldwar, strange that we didn't get any further in 60 years! (Yes I know about the difference between AM/FM and distances etc ....
