Developing a VB app with IR input???

If someone has already made something like this, please let me know.

I want to write an VB application that receives input from a remote control via the IRMan and controls Winamp to play mp3s.

I already know how to control Winamp with VB. What I don't know is how to get VB to receive input from the IRMan (serial port). Are there any ActiveX controls or code samples that you guys know of?

    Thanks.

To save cpu time decoding the ir stream I used a pic (16f84) to decode sony codes and send them as ascii to the serial port.

If its any help I can send you the hex file to program your own pic.

hardware_dave, thats what the IRman does!!!!

mp3stang02, send me an email and I will help you out with some IRMan code I use for my VB app.... uses the standard MSComm32 Active X control (.OCX) that ships with Visual Basic to read data from the COM port... very simple, only 20-40 lines of code....
