Help modify screen size from software...

So I just replaced my original nav screen, that was a 6.5" one with a 7" touch screen. Unfortunatly, the new screen being a little bigger than the factory 6.5" location, a small part at the bottom of the screen is not viewable anymore...(my computer, taskbar, system tray...) The monitor settings don't allow image resizing (not to this extent, as you already know), so I need a solution to modify the screen size from &' to 6.5"...? Any ideeas?

P.S At Darque's suggestion, I tried Powerstrip, but that only moves the image a little bit...but I need something to shink the image, not only move it...

Well, here is the problem as you can see in the images below...from the driver's view port you can't see the bottom part of the screen. What can I do, software wise, to "lift" up that bottom area...?

Can't help you with changing the actual resolution, but you can move the entire taskbar to the top of the screen for the time being - just "unlock" the taskbar (if it currently is locked) and drag it up.

If you want no software to use the bottom portion of the screen, you can resize the taskbar so that it stays with that area empty on the bottom. The only issue will be if you open a lot of applications at the same time (which will create more buttons that will fill up that area).

In the case of front ends, I know for a fact that some (maybe not all) of them allow you to set the "usable" area where it should display the screen/skin.

I had to do that myself because I lost about 15 pixels (height) of my screen due to the same exact reason.

Why software? There should be controls on the monitor to change the screen size however you want.

I now stop and wonder how come that ever crossed my mind...

As fo the frontend, I'm a long time proud and happy RR user

, but again...I haven't stumbled upon that option...where can I set the "usable" are from?

Adjusting it for RR is the easy part... just go into your skin folder, open general.ini (i.e. notepad) and where it says ShowHeight=600, decrease it to ShowHeight=570 or something like that.. you'll have to try a few numbers to see what works best based on your screen's position. Everything in RR will obey that setting including embedding applications, etc.
