    E,

How's the next realease of Upd8 coming along. The missus is out tomorrow night so I keen to install and test if at all possible. I appreciate you are very busy, so no hassle if its not quite there yet.

    Cheers,

Tried running 1.0.8 standalone and found that it didn't like folders and files with DBCS (double-byte characters) names...

    That's a form of unicode isn't it?

doesn't surprise me, VB6 doesn't really like Unicode.

What language are you runnning under?

Yeah. Unicode compatibility is necessary for DBCS to work.

DBCS is usually used for Asian languages like Japanese, Chinese and Korean... My desktop and workstation are running Japanese XP, but the CarPC is English XP with East Asian language support (which will change the unicode configuration and fonts).

I heard about VB6 and unicode/DBCS, but I was hoping that Upd8 wasn't so that things could be fixed easily... oh well...

Well I will be doing a version for Centrafuse, which uses .net, so maybe the support for unicode will be better in that.

If so then I might do a .net version.

hmm... I'd imagine it should be fairly easy to include if it's not by default...

    Cool. Looking forward to it!

Where do I set the path to access.ok?

EDIT: The access.ok file is in the root of drive L:\

    That looks OK.

I'll have to do a quick test, will have to be later tonight as I am now about to go home. (to sleep)

What you could do is change debug to true, and then PM me the debug.txt.

Quick look at the debug file, looks like it is connecting OK, but is having an issue with either something in the folder 'Hadise - Sweat' or the directly afterwards.

what language you running on your PC's? because it might be a unicode issue, or possibly a hidden or system file.
