That's exactly what is is designed for.

The paths are checked regularly by timer and if access to them is available it will sync them.

So as long as your carpc connects to your wireless network automatically when you pull up it should work.

Read the readme, you need to place a file called access.ok in the root of the paths you want to sync. At the moment this is just a blank file but later editions may use this for info.

I would recommend using a mapped drive to the 'server pc' however you can still just have a unc path.

wait so all i have to do is have the access.ok file in the home pc's music directory... add it to upd8.ini accordingly, and it will transfer? There's no ports to be open or any other additional setup needed? thats amazing! Cant wait to get my pc back in the car to try this.

Nope, no ports to open. As long as you can access your music directory in explorer from your car PC and you have that file there, it will sync.

I would suggest that you have a username and password on the share though

You could also have another sync path that uploads, say gps log files to the server

After i run the register.bat, when i try and launch udp8 standalone, i am getting a runtime error"9" subscript out of range message. I am assuming it can be run standalone. Any ideas?

Does this happen straight away, before it tries to update anything?

Have you done anything other than what you have said above?

ie have you changed the skin file, added paths to sync, changed any of the settings.ini.

In fact post the settings ini.

It's possible if you are sync'ing and you have more than 2000 songs in a folder it will throw up that error

the error occurs at launch. I never get to the skin to attempt a sync. I am using the def skin and have made no changes to the skin files.

Just copy and pasted that ini to my ini and it loaded fine with no errors, so don't think it is that.

However the playlists needs a \ after it, try that.

failing that change debug to Debug=True

and the attach the debug.txt file.

Side note : the first ini file would have caused that error as it's missing the type of Sync. ( have now put in a check for that.)

changed the debug to true. Ran the program and it doesn't gen the debug.txt file. Same error after adding that \.

That is very strange, because there is only one array that is referenced before it gets to the creation of a debug file and there is no way it can be exceeded.

    What OS are you running?
