    Windows XP Splashscreen

When windows is starting up, it shows the bootscreen which is easy enough to change especially with bootxp. But then the blue screen that says "Windows is Starting" comes up before the desktop is shown. Is there any way to prevent this screen from showing and have windows go right from the bootscreen to the desktop or to change these screens like the bootscreen can be changed? I have no idea where the image files are.

    Thanks.

You can turn that off in the control panel. Uncheck the use welcome screen under user accounts.

When I disable the welcome screen in the control panel, the login box comes up instead, which is even more annoying than the welcome screen. I'd rather just change the image like with the boot screen.

    az1324,
Get a program called tweakui. It is part of microsoft power toys. just do a google search for it. It can configure all different stuff in wondows that usually has to be done in regedit.
How do I know this? I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to get rid of said splash screen.
If you have any more dramas after that let me know....

That's how I have mine set up, and although it means that you don't need to log the machine in, it doesn't get rid of the Welcome screen.

On my system, even if theres no password, you still have log in. You just dont enter the password, hit enter instead. To have auto log in, you need to add a password then add/edit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Cu rrentVersion\Winlogon

    Value: ForceAutoLogon
    Type: REG_SZ
    Data: 1

    Value: DefaultPassword
    Type: REG_SZ
    Data: your password go here

    Value: AutoAdminLogon
    Type: REG_SZ
    Data: 1

This will automatically log you into XP. every time. To check if you did it right, simply log off. XP will auto log in with out password.

Thanks for updating a 5.5 year old thread.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
