    Black Screen on startup

So, I just finished building and installing my MKII Carputer. This thing is awesome. Super tiny, super fast, has everything I needed, and looks factory stock. I am almost totally done getting it all setup (thank you bench power supply). The only thing I have left is to boot into windows (non safemode) successfully for the first time in the car. For some reason, when using my lilliput 7", right after XP tries to load the desktop, my screen goes black then blue and says "NO PC CONNECTION". I know for a fact that there is though, I tested it and it responds to keyboard commands and has visuals on my other desktop monitor. It does not have this problem in safemode or in VGA mode though (Neither of which I can use for streetdeck for the lack of direct3d).

I've tried pretty much everything. I un-installed and re-installed the drivers (3 times), reset the resolution in safemode and vga mode, changed the default output in the bios, changed the resolution range in the bios, etc, etc. My motherboard (JetWay intel core2 board (forgot the model number)) has VGA, DVI, and HDMI outs, which might have something to do with it. Whatever the case, has anyone run into this issue, it's driving me nuts!! I AM SO CLOSE I CAN TASTE IT!

What resolution is Windows set to on the desktop? It may be that its current res is not compatible with your small screen.

EDIT: What I mean is that I have had an instance where I had windows working on one monitor and then simply shut down, plugged in a new monitor, and started back up and the new monitor would not work because of the res.

In safe mode, it starts up as 800x600... but it also works great in 1280x1024. The lilliput is capable of up to 1280x1024 I think.

Have you tried other standard resolutions, such as 640X480, on the Windows desktop? 1280X1024 may possibly be the issue.

    Actually, I don't think I could run 1280X1024 on my 7" Lilli...

The first time I started up in safe mode, it worked great under 1280x1024 (using my lilliput at that). It was hard as hell to read, but I could see enough to lower the resolution. I dropped it down to 800x600 and restarted... Even at that, when I got back into windows, it just shut off.

I just went back out to my car to try a DVI->VGA adaptor and use the DVI port... no such luck. It has DVI-D not DVI-I, so I can't use it to display to any analog sources from that. My only option is the VGA port, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Intel 954 app set is disabling VGA out on startup... at least when the Intel video control sofware loads. That would explain why it works in VGA and SAFE modes, but not regular. Now I need to try and find an alternate driver or some junk.

^^^ What he said. Play with the settings. Try as many combos as you can...

Also, try uninstalling your graphics driver completely. Windows should revert back until it reinstalls. If you can see during the driver reinstall period and then it shuts off, then it is your driver. You can also tinker with other drivers such as the Intel embedded driver.
