i have no idea...
are you the administrator when installing?
there should be a log being generated by the windows installer
could be that the installer doesnt have rights to alter registry
mitch
So I've come to the tail end of my install. Things were going so smoothly, I knew it was too good to last long.
So trying to setup HD Radio on my MicroXP install, I come to the following roadblock.
"KB893803v2 Setup Error"
"KB893803v2 - Access is denied"
Searching on the web, it seems related to the Windows Installer 3.1 Update, which is the resource being called (WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe) by the HD Radio setup app IF my carPC had a functioning network.
Been searching all night and all afternoon long, I've come to realize I can't resolve this myself. The only thing I could find that that it could be related to is that it might be associated with the "Security" reg key since it's not defined in the registry, but I can't be sure.
Hopefully someone can help.
Thx!

I don't think so. I think that's what "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe" is for. At least, that's what I've gathered on the web.
It's a prerequsite to moving forward w/ your "setup.exe"
I've used the HDRadioPCR.msi to install HD Radio before, but that isn't working under MicroXP as well.

Have you tried installing the standalone version of the Windows Installer? (man that's a weird sentence).

The WIndows 3.1 installer is the core routines and processes for installing programs usually created in microsoft tools. It shouldn't affect performance or stability of your tiny XP install, since it's only invoked when you run a program's installation/uninstallation routine (such as when you clicked 'setup.exe')
Yeah, I'm installing the standalone version. Since my carPC MicroXP install is stripped of all networking capabilities, I have install all the necessary drivers one by one.
In any case, the stand alone install is the one having problems...at the moment. I'm getting the "Access Denied" error message.
Searching around for this problem, it seems quite common, but I can't find any solution that make any sort of sense to me...

You can just copy the required files and register the dll manually but I don't know how the directory is laid out after install...
You will also need to install it on another machine and copy the files over.

SWEET! Finally got it to work!
Okay, so I managed to find this.
Followed those instructions up to setup 10. That enabled me to install the stand alone WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe w/o any problems.
Ran HDRadio setup.exe file to setup HDRadioPCR
Installed dotnetfx.exe (.NET Framework 2.0)
And voila!
HDRadio again!
w00t!

I believe it can. I installed v0.6 and after the initial installation, a series of prompts popup asking what you want to do w/ your computer, one of which was if your computer was going to be connected to a network. Its a general Y/N question.
Currently my boot time from "Key On" to desktop is 28sec. From initial power up to desktop is 22sec. I wish there was a way to speed up the Opus 150. With RR, IG, & HD Radio and all associated drivers, my install is 252MB w/ no IG maps.
I still have minlogon to apply and make RR the shell. I'm hoping that'll shave a few more seconds off my boot time to music.
