What type of controls would you like?
I never thought I would say this, I got an android phone two days ago. Damn, I may give up the carpc. This thing does damn near everything my carpc does. once it does vehicle controls The carpc may be a thing of the past.

Do you ever feel like every good idea you have someone else has thought of it already and is already making money on it?
It takes time and money and you need to move very quickly nowadays.

I actually started using my Droid X last week. And yes, it is very impressive as a Carputer. It is running the Android 2.2 OS, has the 4.3" screen and a nice window mouont.
The navigation / speech recognition / voice Command is nice. Lots of available of apps and always online.
I was currently using a laptop running Windows 7, Centrafuse and a 7" monitor. Belive it or not this does pretty much all of what the laptop / Centrafuse does for the Carputer, but is always on, I can take it with me etc..
It is a nice option to really consider.
Funny was just coming on here to post about android for carpc. I was thinking if i didn't have a nice fitting carpc a dock for my Samsung captivate would make a nice carpc and output to the lcd.
I am thinking android can go two ways with this.
1. be the actually front end on a pc or have a hardware closer to a smartphone setup but for the car. So it would be small and basically like a tablet that is geared for the car environment.
2. Using android as a remote for exsiting carpc. Such as a app that controls RideRunner via WiFi.
What do you think?

i was just kicking around a android tablet car pc aswell. i figure a simple media app could handle the front end easily!
You guys have not seen this. but if you have an HDMI monitor and then hook it up to an Atrix 4G w/ a cardock, it will be a carputer.
