Creative PC-DVD tester.
I've noticed that a few people, (including myself), have purchased the Computer Geeks - Creative PC-DVD remote control. So, I wrote this simple program in QuickBASIC to be able to test it. Perhaps it might be useful to someone else also, so here it is:
Cardread executable
Cardread source code
This is written to run in DOS, but seems to work ok in Win9x on my machine also.

Hi jol, sorry it didn't quite work right for you. I'm not really an expert QB programmer, it just seemed to work ok on my DOS 6.22 machine and my Win98SE machine.
You might try opening the source code in QB 4.5 (if you have it), and try it that way instead.
I will, however take another look at the code, and see if I can see anything that might cause what you said.

EDIT: Ok, I did discover one thing. When I start the remotes own software in Windows, it sends some sort of "initialization code" to the unit. My program doesn't do that because I didn't know it was there when I first wrote that program. Apparently, if I run my program immedietly after booting, it seems to work ok, but once any other program runs, it messes up.
I'm going to try to "view" the initialization sequence on a logic analyzer at work, and see if I can duplicate the code in my program.
For the time being, you can always just open any terminal program and see if it recieves code from the unit. Just remember to set the com port for 2400 baud. (thats the speed the remote receiver sends at)

Now it doesnt work with remote selector or any ir program (girder)
It says something like plugin loaded but hardware failure.
I installed some other ir program earlier, that could have messed it up. will try on another pc tonight.
