Hi Guys,
The Aussies over on golfmkv forum have been playing with something similar.
There is a massive thread here on their efforts to hack into the CE side.

Maybe, but I suspect you would need to re-flash it to do so, which is probably more than most people would want to get into. See my 2nd link above where another guy reflashed his interface's graphics. Each time the system boots up, it is a totally clean boot, as user memory (32MB) is completely wiped upon shutdown. So whatever you need to run, it has to be all completely on the SD card.
Are you suggesting something like pocketmio would work? Not keen on trying that, as I heard some reports of it bricking no name chinese gps units.
There is a directory in the flash of the units WinCE front end software, but it won't let me copy it to SD card for some reason? It shows up on my SD card after I copy it, but when I pop it in my PC, it isn't there?!?! Very strange - like it is locked from copying or something. I was hoping to tinker with it.

Morris,
Your post on gpspassion seems to have gone AWOL. Any chance of you posting the instructions etc here. The interface on my double DIN Chinese unit leaves much to be desired!
Many Thanks
Dave
Any idea on what bootloader it uses, or the ARM board that it uses? I'd like to try to hack Linux on this beast and get nGhost running on it.

hehe :-) did you found a solution to hack the ARM Bootloader?
I use a chinavasion King Cobra double Din Receiver and the WinCE integration is aehmm ;-)

I also have a Chinavasion radio deck (but mine is the single din) I am TRYING to load a GPS program into this unit (via the SD card), but have had no joy. I even went so far as to copy the software off of a Magellan Roadmate 1470 and copy that onto an SD card, but it refuses to load. (doesn't give any error messages, just won't load). I am in the United States and this is DRIVING ME UP THE WALL!!
Please help before I break something.

if all you need is to access wince you can use cecmd.exe to browse the device

as far as the explorer is concerned it's in the window folder but you can't copy it to the sd card because actually the hole window folder is a shadow of the firmware image there fore ether get a copy of it that was extracted from the image or use mort script to execute it in the window folder .
