If you can turn off scaling in your video card drivers and set your res appropriately you can get the same effect.

If you have some computers laying around, use one to work on the software, set the display to what you'll really use, and VNC into that box from your desktop at that resoltion, and then scale to the real size. Nice to do on a higher res desktop.

Maybe it simply depends on what question we're answering. With VNC you have the actual hardware and with a vmware solution you don't. If the purpose is to develop the software, vmware may be a solution, but, the VNC method would eliminate unknowns since it is running on the actual hardware to be used.

Well the first post was that he wanted to know what it would look like on a 7 inch monitor. Both VNC and vmware don't really give you that. But i did install vmware 6 to see what it would look like. It does seem if you set the max resolution to the same as your carputer screen (7inchs) you get a good idead of what it will look like at that resolution and possibly screen size.

Also the RRSkinEditor can zoom in/out so if you just wanted to see it smaller that may help too, only for RR Skins.
