    Question Sonique as backend?

Has anyone played around with using Sonique as a back end MP3 player rather than Winamp?

Main reason that I ask is because Sonique has a bigger and better built in eq than Winamp (20 band rather than 11, auto smoothing).

I'm yet to find a winamp eq/processing plugin that either doesn't kill the machines performance (Ozone) or require purchase of software to test fully (Dee2).

The EQ in Winamp is pretty lame, and offer insufficient bottom end adjustment (only 60Hz - next one up is 120Hz, which is higher than my crossover point of 90Hz).

I'm prepared to suffer a slight quality drop from CD to mp3, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of control for eq'ing - and I'm not prepared to reinstall my Alesis 30 band rack mount stereo graphic eq from my old competition system

Hi C4M, I prefer Sonique over WinAmp, but I actually use WinAmp simply because of Ozone. Its a great plug-in, (obviously, I purchased it), but I don't understand what kind of "performance hit" your taking. While Ozone is CPU intensive, I use it with no problem on a Pentium 233 MMX.

You shouldn't even notice it on an 800 Mhz.

Also, I havn't tried sonique in years at this point, but I dont know about how broad its plugin base is, as theres a plugin for everything for winamp (resumer, keypad interfaces, ir interfaces, albumlists, etc etc etc). Just something to keep in mind.

    Thanks for the tip.

I don't use any plugin's at all other than needing something to EQ.
