    Tutorial of sorts wanted

Ok, so I'm looking to build my carputer, hence being here.

For the sake of argument, lets assume a Jetway mini-itx, with the Intel Atom 1.6ghz (don't ask me for the specific chip number, its just a mobo I remember from massive browsing), 1gb ram, 2gb flash card to boot from, 120gb hdd for storage.

On the software side, lets assume TinyXP, CentraFuse, and iGuidance.

Ok, to start out, lets go step by step. Once assembled, we install the os, CentraFuse, and of course iGuidance.

I remember reading somewhere how to boot directly into a front end.

First question is, can someone point me to that?

Once in there, I wanna use the gps, and don't want to switch between programs, so then how do I go about embedding the iGuidance?

I will undoubtedly have more questions as I go on, but that is enough to get me started. From there I can play around with the skin editor.

Before saying search, I will state that I did look around for stuff pertaining to this, but most of what I found was cluttered. I'm looking for some straightforward instructions.

    Thx in advance.

Booting into the frontend is NOT the first step, you do that once you have everything up and running the way you like it and stable.

There is a generic thread for booting direct to a frontend but if you are planning on using centrafuse then ask that question on the centrafuse forum here or on the main centrafuse forum on their site for the best info.

    yeah, what he said.

First tweak the bare XP install so it can boot in alot less time. Shoot for 10secs? lol. GL. You might have to set it to hibernate, and that is in the Power options in the Control panel.

Then install the Front End. Easy way is to add it in the Startup Folder so it will start up automatically.

    than moar tweaks....

ok, neither of those posts were helpful nor did they reflect what i wrote, i didnt say booting into the front end was first step, i said FIRST QUESTION.

and then telling me there is a generic thread with the info without linking is like saying yes, there is gas for 1.12 a gallon but not saying where you saw it for so that everyone else can benefit.

I said earlier, and I will say again: I'm looking for some straightforward instructions.

And I'm looking for it here instead of the CentraFuse forum because guess what, I remember seeing the info here, NOT the CentraFuse forum!

    UGHA!!!

Well if you type the words "how to boot directly into a front end" into the search at the top of the page one of the threads that will pop up is the thread I was referring to.

Yes I know you don't want to be told to search, however that is what you need to do.

And good luck getting help if that is the attitude you are going to take.

and you cannot understand any of it? too cluttered?
there is enough information on the first 2 posts to get the job done.

now for the second one, integration

bugbyte, i'm not really newb. i've been working with computers in residential settings for years now. I can sort of read code (good for webpages), but cant program. And i'm pretty good at tweaking windows to make any computer run like a top. Hardware, not a problem.

I'm just new to the carpc scene, so i'm trying to learn everything i need to start selling carpc's to people who's cars i work on lol
