Spotify in the car?
I just got hold of a invitation to spotify (www.spotify.com) and realised how wonderful it would be to be able to run it in the car since I have a mobile broadband there... almost all the music I've tried searching for have been there, even Sir Mix-A-Lot...
Well the interface look like this if you havnt tried it:
and as you can see it isn't all that optimal to use on a touchscreen, the question is if anyone think it would be possible to make it either a plugin for RR or a standalone thingy that works better on screen!
Anyone got any information regarding this?
I run Spotify in the car, but want to integrate it in RoadRunner.
My 5 cent
Have you seen this?
Och eftersom ni är svenskar:
But no, no integrated rr skin as far as I know.
Gillar din "installation" skarpt, originalstuk eller åtminstone något som ser ut som om det skulle kunna vara original är det som gäller...
Have to sort out my problems with the hidden antenna and HQCT first and then I might look at the Spotify issue...
Thanks, I agree about original look!
I've got an HQCT that I never got to work properly :-( I think it was 3 years since I bought it. But I do not blame the HQCT first, it is probably just lack of time.
Now I've started to look at the DAP thread, but I want the HQCT to work before upgrading. Same with spottify.
About hidden antenna. In my car there was quite a lot to investigate before I found out how it was designed. There is an output from the original radio to motor antenna that was actually used as on-off on the diversity amp. So I had to connect that to ignition instead when I removed the old radio. Is your problem similar, GUS?
We might be hijacking the thread here...
But, I was going to do this in my BMW540 E39 first, but never got around to do it, it also had basically EVERYTHING when it comes to addons already. Besides, I sold it 8 months ago...
My installation is in a -94 MB SL600, so the car is quite old. I have no remains of the original stereo system at all, the antenna was motored one on one of the rear wings. Hated this, so welded the hole shut and bought a antenna made for hidden installation (boats), mounted behind the rear bumper and reception was crap (might be some shielding in the plastic).
So my problem is purely human I guess.
See you are in Sthlm, I am to, might get back to you for more hints. Car is in winter hibernation now 500 km north and I have to replace the soft top, new catalytic converters and stuff before summer also moving into town in 3 weeks. So the MBPC is not the highest priority.
Hijacking or not, I take the chance
Are you the Täby guy? I've seen a car like your BMW with a rather big screen on the road.
About radio antenna I would use a diversity antenna.... If that was an option from factory on your car I would try and get one, including diversity amp. www.bildelsbasen.se maybe.
No, not mine...
Since the Mercedes is so old I will have to go with a aftermarket universal antenna, but I think you are right, will probably need a amplified one.
Might get back to you when I am up and runnign again, must get the car on the ground first...
Spotify + android..?
How about this way?
If one wants to have Spotify on the car but Spotify is too detailed to be used with 7" touchscreen, then perhaps go around this is to install Androidx86 platform and to that the Spotify mobile for Android? Then you get bettr usability of the player and no need to figure out the skins issue, witch seems to be unsolved yet...
There are of course drawbacks, since Android dont support everything like window$ or even Linux, but it is quite nice all round mediaplayer solution. Atleast an option.
It dosent require that mutch from the PC so less is enough :)
The Android + Spotify would be allmost My dream...
It's just pity that i have to have Spotify Premium (9,99/month) to do this
I have just quickly tried Android on my Asus EeePC 901 with touchscreen attached and it does work nicely, after learning the logic. Afterall it is meant for phones... Basically everything you can do with Android cellphone, you can do with you carpc...
Propably you cannot have engine diagnostics, dunno...
I think i will be trying this soon. I hate the Windows in my car and since Linux dont offer anything similar to Centrafuse or RR, it is no that mutch better choice, thow i love the Ubuntu :peace:
Anyone uses the Spotify mobile with Android or any other platform? Should this be any better solution?
Very interesting idea, most of the stuff seem to work in Androidx86, you are a little bit limited with the navigation software, but guess that will be better as time moves on.
Keep us posted how the test goes, really want to know.
I came to the conclusion that Mp3 does not have anything more to do in the car, Spotify Offline will suit every need, and if I am within Sweden I have a 3G connection anyway in the car.
