What command are you using to copy? If you are using the "copy" command, that will truncate filenames. Try using "xcopy32" or "xcopy". Under 9x, you would use "xcopy32", but with Win2k and XP, I believe they named it just "xcopy". These commands will copy, but keep long filenames intact. You use either one with the same syntax you would with "copy".

I can't use xcopy in just plain dos outside of XP...so im trying to do xcopy winthin the command line window in XP, and we are going to see if that work's. I also tryed reinstalling the Raid Card drivers. Lets hope all this works

This problem is really weird...

Using xcopy in winXP does not solve this problem, the files are still corrupted on my carputer, but are fine on my winxp machine. im on the verge of reinstalling windows XP. I really dont want to boot up on a boot disk and copy all my files through dos, then go back into winXP and rename my files. I dont know what else to do. Reinstalling the RAID drivers did nothing. the command line in winxp is useless. I am beginning to think that God really doesn't want me to have a carputer.

hook up a network cable between the carputer and homeputer....

Then you won't have to worry with it

That would mean I would have to purchase a a AC-DC converter ($100+ ?) and redo the wiring everytime I took out the carputer...pulling out the whole case out of the trunk everytime to update my files would suck...

And why would you have to do this ?

Put network card in home-puter
Put network card in car-puter
Hookup crossover cable
.....
Profit


or just get two wireless nics and ad-hoc
