ELO & SB conflict, gurus help!
I posted in the General Hardware about an issue I am having with an Elo touchscreen setup, but there have been developments that have led me to the software section. The problem is as follows.
I have a 2310 Elo touch controller (serial connection), and a Surface-wave 10.4" overlay. The setup has been connected and working for about a year. Recently I began having issues with the touchscreen NOT working. Although, i found that the computer was getting the touch signal (the computer beeps when screen is touched), but the mouse was not being relocated. I also tried the touchscreen on another computer and was able to get it working again... so i know that the hardware is no bad.
I called Elo, and found that there is a known issue with the 2310 serial controller board and many different types of hardware (and their drivers...) One well known issue is with Creative Soundblaster sound cards. I have an SB live value, and the contact at elo said my problems were consistant with that conflict.
I tried to get as much information from her as possible, but she did not have any details... other than Elo software is working on the problem.
Here's where all of you mp3car geniuses come in... The problem appears to be a driver conflict. There are 2k and xp drivers for both the soundcard and the touchscreen (running xp), and I have tried every combination of both. Also, there are microsoft drivers that come with XP, but they do not have some of the features that I need (all the 4 channel and mixer settings). What can I do to check where the conflict might be, and what are my options to get this touchscreen working?!?!
Other Info: The touchscreen softare comes in the form of a control panel applet, a mouse driver, and an Elo Touchscreen service that refuses to start (on the car computer). It should also be noted, that the desktop computer that I tested the screen on DOES have an identical sb live value card, but the screen works. The drivers are stock MS drivers, and after a complete reload of the OS on the car computer, letting the MS drivers install, the screen did NOT work once again.
Any info or ideas welcome.
