Same here, I think is that the usb rail must be overloaded, I'm trying an external powerd usb hub and see...
I have a Windows XP Pro CarPC that hangs when resuming from hibernation.. I narrowed it down to it only happening when a USB device is plugged in..
When no USB devices are plugged in it comes out of hibernation fine.. When any USB device is plugged in the resuming progress bar will fill up but will never go into windows.. It just stays at the black screen with the progress bar all the way filled and I have to hard reset, delete the restoration data, and then get into Windows.
I have an Asus K8V-VM motherboard with a SSD master drive and a SATA full size HDD. I have updated all the motherboard drivers and all other drivers, ran all updates including SP3, etc..
I will note that I did have this PC with all hardware (except the SSD) working with hibernation fine with all the same USB devices..
I recently got the SSD and formatted and reinstalled and ever since I haven't been able to resume w/ USB devices in..
I'm flat out of ideas..
Thanks!

Well I looked in the BIOS and didn't see anything related to USB booting..
However, I did reset the BIOS to defaults just for grins and it started working again..
Who knows!?
