Ive got it running with an atom 1.6ghz with 512mb ram, runs fine.
Now I havent stressed the system very much but just setting everything up and testing everything it runs great with only a half gig of ram. no issues yet.

it also boots faster than xp and has native touchscreen support and better solid state drive support.

When you say native touchscreen support, do you mean any standard Lilliput/Xenarc will basically be plug and play? I did try out Windows 7 Tiny Edition and that worked fine on my C7 2.0ghz + 512MB ram, but I had issues getting my Lilliput EBY701 and the manufacturer's touchscreen drivers to work. Basically, the touch functions wouldnt work after I resume from hibernation.

A did a quick google and I think when they say native touch screen support they dont include drivers for all touch screen, its actually native multi touch but the drivers are limited to certain manufacturers i think.

I installed my lilliput drivers, cant remember if i checked to see if the touch screen worked before, as it was the first thing i installed. it might be a moot point in that case. But I have read that the SSD support is supposed to be very good and very fast and efficient with windows 7. This was the main reason i installed windows 7, I had everything running on an xlited windows xp install but decided to try windows 7 simply because I had a SSD and its been perfect, with faster boot times than my xp install had so I've left it on.

    runing Win 7 happily on a 800MHZ, 1GB Ram, samsung q1 ultra

It runs surprisingly smooth. I also upgraded Win 7 on my carPC a 1.20 ghz core2 w\2gb ram. all systems are go with the exception of the carnetix 2140, which im about to sell cuz they don't look like they plan on making a vista/win 7 driver.
