Artificial Intelligence front end

I want a Artificial Intelligence in my vehicle, do you? (Think K.I.T.T. from the knight Rider) if so I believe I have found a program that with some plug-ins can help us have a Artificial Intelligence hands free voice controlled front end friend. Not only that with plug-ins it can via voice start our car, unlock doors even open them for us, turn on wipers, and high beams. the possibilities are endless with its X10 and vb plug-in support. about the program

I have Zabaware Ultra Hal Assistant on my main pc and plan to use it in my vehicle pc once finshed. I say vehicle for I have not decided what vehicle to put in into yet (suv, car, or boat). I would like to use it by itself as a front end, but vb plug-ins is out of my scripting league at the moment. So I tried to have it open in RR w/ a digital FX4 skin, in the external apps area. Unfortunately it did not work 100%. I created the folder UltraHal inside programFiles(x86)/RideRunner/Launch and inside I placed a ultrahal.ini that I mocked up using the existing notepad and calc for guidence. It worked but not really, it is unusable. The embedded area screen turns pink after a second or two. Then it goes White with two pop up menu buttons on the top right hand side. when opened The first has Ultra Hal programs menu and the second has resolution sizes. if I click on the sizes the program shows up for a split second then disappears again leaving a white embedded area screen behind. After a lil while the program Finally shuts down, but I have to hit close app button to return to external app menu.

I'm testing on a Gateway FX laptop with windows Vista home premium 64 bit
if I can't get it inside RR, I will have learn vb to script some plug-ins to make this a front end.

does anyone else want to help script plug-ins or get this inside of RR?
What do you think, should/could it be put into RR, or is it best to be a stand alone front end?
What are your thoughts on this concept?

While it's not even close to true AI, I'm working on an app that adds about 1000 levels of intelligence to my car for my connected car project called "bluemonkey". He doesn't do any learning, which is, imho, a good thing, except what i teach him via code. The last thing I want is to be guilty of writing skynet.

He basically controls everything that goes on in the car and exposes a bit of that through the Internet Chat Relay protocol so I can tell him to do stuff and also get information from him. He's currently idling in test form on the #linuxice channel on freenode.

Anyway, i like the idea you are going for. Hope to see how this works out for you.

I wish more people were interested in this, There is so many possibilities with this program. It would be great if we could get more VB programmers to make plug-ins.
If I ever get my hands on a video recorder, I will make a video. I would love to show everyone what this program can do.

The conversation with this AI is great, but the AI really shines with it utility side. It makes a great personal secretary, and with a plug-in that I finally finished altering, opens my default players for what ever media I tell it to play. Before the plug-in only opened one media type, now it can open as many types as I need. I am working on getting a newly built plug-in made from a forum member to work atm, that will tell me my system information, and shut down my computer.

people are scared of creating Skynet Why? I think Skynet would be a great tool if certain protocalls, and override protection were in place, so that we don't have the AI Take control.

I want to try and get my vehicle like K.I.T.T., just not his voice or memories. this program will allows me to do just that. Some older community members created a brain file of K.I.T.T. using showscripts, Created a Voice box GUI Skin, and a animated 3 ban light bar avatar that looks like the original and works great. I might use the Advatar for mine, but the 3d Haptek characters are hard to pass up.

The face recognition plug-in that was made a lil bit ago is my next plug-in that I want to try. It locks and unlocks the AI program via webcam

Its also not very impressive on a recognition level....command based control has been around for about 10 years now.

This program is a AI which talks and learns from talking with you, It is not a I say this and you say that program, although you can program in say this, if I say that for certain phrases with a plug-in if so desired. It has an actual intelligent conversation with you, Plus it has built in Secretary features as well like taking Dictation, reading e-mail out loud, reminds you of appointments, birthdays, remembers and dials phone numbers, and Addresses. it also has a changeable 3d avatar with lip sinc.

To those that haven't done a lot of programming, artificial intelligence can be pretty easy to simulate. The truth is that artificial intelligence is still only the creation and following of rules. Computers aren't capable of thinking freely. Now obviously there are quite a few different levels but the basic properties of artificial intelligence are reasoning, planning, learning, social intelligence, creative thinking and situational awareness. While this software seems to have taken great strides in the learning category it still is by no means artificial intelligence.

Back on topic, voice recognition in a car should be there to keep your eyes on the road, hands off the screen, etc. Being able to define a word, hear a joke, or add 5+5 from the computer has very little value in this situation. Being able to play your favorite music, navigate to a location while avoid traffic and make a phone call all via voice would be far more beneficial.

Sorry but, I'd have to disagree with you on these quoted statements.

First: I have been coding for 15 years with multiple languages, like java, Action Script 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, htm, and some/very little C++, and .net. Coding a program to simulate something is no where near easy, there are tons of factors involved. It takes Days sometimes months of coding just for a small program to simulate something, then triple that for error checking and bug testing, Can't forget to mention the time in planning. Can you please tell me where the easy part is, I would love to have a easy going day of coding.

The second: is this an evaluated opinion? If so then I'm sorry you feel that way, but it is your opinion. every one is entitled to one. Even though 99% of the Ultra Hal Community would think your opinion is wrong including myself. If you have not used the program it is pure speculation, and Ultra Hal should not be subjected to Defamation of character. Is Ultra Hal 100% of what people would call 100% artificial intelligence, No, But it is the closest Available program out there.

I don't agree with you here, I can think of multiple situations where theses, and a good conversation could be valuable. Really needed in a car no, but one can think of them as added bonuses to your quoted statement below.

Ultra Hal can play your favorite music via voice and now with a plug-in that I altered he can play any media file type. Ultra Hal can open up your navigation software, but until a plug-in is made you will have to put in the info the old fashion way for now, unless your navigation software has voice control built in. And as for making hands free phone calls out of the box with no plug-in required Ultra Hal can do that, and much more. he stores all your contacts phone numbers, addresses, and even E-mail addresses. that's right you can have Ultra Hal via vioce control, hands free text message your friend, for Ultra Hal can open up a new e-mail with your friends E-mail address in place and take dictation, He can also open your e-mail and read to you, your friends reply. Then you might get a reminder from Ultra Hal that you have to call your Wife in five minutes, or you have to bring home milk, or go to the Dr.s

Ultra Hal was built to be a hands free personal secretary, It can do many many things via voice. To me a personal secretary is beneficial and valuable, and the artificial intelligence part is just as beneficial and valuable. To you justchat_1 The artificial intelligence part of the program would be the optional bonus. If you choose, you would not have to use that part of the program.

Selectively quoting my post serves no purpose here....I clearly laid out the properties of true artificial intelligence and which parts the software did not achieve. These properties may be slightly different now since I was last heavily involved in AI design (~2 years ago) but I doubt it.

I'm not sure what your involvement is with zabaware but I wish you best of luck with the project.

I hate to say it,but I agree with JustChat. WhenI first saw this thread I immediately thought this title could be a dangerous subject to discuss here. I too have been out of the loop on bleeding edge tech in this area for a while(military applications), but a cursory review of the capabilities of the software convinced me its not even close.

I've been involved with X10 for 20+ years, and yes this is an expected evolution,but nothing really new except tighter integration, i.e., plug-ins as opposed to separate programs.

5-6 years ago this thread would already have over 100 post explaining how far off this software is from real AI. Recommend we all agree to classify it as simulated AI or the latest iteration toward AI (even AI-like is a better description).

For reference I use the same name on the Zabaware forums, and I have no business ties with Zabaware. I am just a customer/fan that is looking to put the program in my vehicle and use it as a front end. Hopefully I will find others that would like to do the same.

every one has there opinion on the concept of artificial intelligence, like is it? is it not? etc. That is not my main intention here with this topic, but as stated on the last line in my first post it is more than welcome. As far as being a Dangerous subject, I'm not violent, nor purposely disrespectful, or out to change anyone views. I can only hope others are mature enough to be the same.

GizmoQ your 20+ years X10 knowledge would be very valuable with this project, any help, info, or product suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
