Hello all
Im moving onto the next stage of my carputer after trying to avoid touch screen so i could use the factory screen.
Iv ordered a lilliput 7" touch screen and installed windows on my mac mini.
Looking at front ends and not sure what people are using
Ride runner looks good because its open and free but there does not appear to be much in the way of skin choice, especially ones that are 100% functional. Plug-in wise it seem to be a pain to install them, there is not a whole lot of choice and most seem very temperamental.
Centrafuse looks good, not much information on it especially screenshots. Appears to have a good plug in system with quite a few decent plug-ins. All config can be done via touch screen rather than having to use a separate config program. downside - costs money and is closed.
what else is there? what should i go for?
Main features im looking for are good music interface, video player, GPS nav with aussie maps (or ability to integrate garmin mobile pc), maybe phone interface and diagnostics eg odb gauges.
thanks
Luke

OpenMobile is currently under development and is free and open source and will satisfy every one of the features you have listed above. And if not convinced... Integration Re-Defined for Garmin Integration, and http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/open...ak-thread.html for whats coming up, and did I say it was free?
Why does every one feel that RR is difficult to setup and install plug-ins? All the plugins I use come with self installers and work fine... most of the problems some from when they are first released and people are testing them.
There are a lot of usable skins for RR. The issue is that most people that make them, make them for themselves to use and once they have all the screens they need they stop working on it. But there are many out there that cover the basics. I usually just find one I like, then modify a few of the screens to work with my personal needs and then I end up with a system that is better than any "one size fits all" skin.
That's just my $0.02... I like RR and it has worked great for me.
