I dont use one at the moment but I had plans for it... would be wonderfull to be able to control everything from within RR

what plans do you have? could everything be controlled right from the initial stuff to autotune etc?

Well, I was leaning more towards displaying the variables in labels, indicators, and Gauges...
There are already excellent apps to configure the ECU, that is not needed...
I have 22 variables, MS1 extra variables, that I send to RR as variables...
I also have the RPM displayed in a nice gauge, w/RRPointer of course...
It is very smooth in regards to needle movement, and it uses less than 20% cpu when active...

not bad.. i was just happy to see someone smarter than me taking up the task to build such a plugin...

do you think it would be possible to switch maps from your plugin... ie econ maps and fuel maps for racing etc?

and would it be possible to calculate mpg etc ? if i'm not wrong megasquirt outputs data each time it fires the injectors and for how long... but i might be wrong

    This would be EPIC!!!

it would be great to just be able to select a few gauges and track them in real time (like megatune does). that way i can quickly take a look at a few parameters.

as someone running a MS-II i'd love to be able to use it with my forth-coming car-pc.

I wrote this demo for my employer ICS. Mp3Car (It's on the main page now) and TheNokiaBlog have profiled it. It uses MegaSquirt and gauges built with QML/Qt. Code is open source under the GPL so you may not be able to simply take the code and use it in RR, but you could use it as a guide. Read-only access to MS-II is trivial. Send an `a` down the serial port and get a binary blob of all the sensors back. I do this on a timer roughly 10times a second. To be complete you should read the standard MegaSquirt ini files or the firmware loaded on the MS to get the format of the byte array that comes over serial. That would let you work with any offical firmware and custom firmware. My demo is hard coded to MSExtra 2.1 firmware due to time constraints. Also my code happens to use some Linuxisms (names of serial ports), but with a little massaging should run under windows too.
