Program to change res for widescreen monitor

I have a widescreen monitor from DScustoms the ratio is 16:9, and i would like to be able to set my screen res to a number with the same aspect ratio, like 720x400, but you can't do this with the regular display settings in XP, so is there a program that would do this for me?

    thanks,
    eric

i must have been using it wrong before, because i couldn't get it to work properly. What steps do you have to go through inorder to get powerstrip to work with widescreen?

Powerstrip is a pig to get right with my limited experience

What graphics card are you using? If it's a Matrox, you can get a widescreen resolution out of it by using the Matrox "Powerdesk" control panel pages and a bit of fiddling. I'm now running 848x480 which gets recognised by the panel as 852x480, and the aspect ratio is pretty much spot on.

If it's a Via EPIA board, you're stuffed if you're trying to use the on-board VGA to get widescreen - I ended up buying a Matrox G450 for a good price in order to get the resolution right. It also had the happy coincidence of accelerating DVD play back

    Cheers,

    Nick.
