Thread: Wanted: Programmer who wants to play with DAB+ option

Right, so I've tested on two different setups and got the same result.

First one - Win 7 Home Premium, 32-bit with 2GB RAM. It's a netbook, so doesn't have any CarPC specific apps installed (apart from Radiator).

Second one - XP virtual PC, brand new build with just the Realtek drivers, Radiator and C++ 2010 Redistributable package installed.

Firstly got the error that MSVCP60D.dll and MSVCRTD.dll files were missing, so found these and put them in the Windows\System32 directory. Once this was done, Radiator opens fine.

Changed it to the correct DLL file and started scanning, just sits there trying to scan. I've also tried the standard drivers from the BlazeVideo site (I know these work) with the same result.

I've just installed BlazeVideo and it scans and picks up FM stations with no issues. Just trying DAB now - however I don't think that NZ have DAB widely available yet.

Did you run this while other software was open (BlazeTV, for example) or just Radiator on it's own? I'm not sure that a VirtualPC will work.

Anyhow, please try this version. If this one doesn't work I shall go back to the SDK Documentation and see what Realtek recommends.

I tried it with Radiator on its own. I've passed the USB device through so that the virtual build of XP has full control over the device, and the same thing happens on the Win 7 netbook.

I'll try the driver now.

Same happens on both virtual XP build and the Win 7 netbook.

Just to eliminate any other problems, can you confirm whether the attached file works for you? It is not made by me, it is by Realtek.

You will need to set your area and then press Play.

That file works for me but I can't pick up any DAB stations as there are none in range.

If you have the FM tuner program from Realtek I can test that as well.

BlazeDTV won't pick up the DAB stations either, but picked up all FM stations and TV.

Does Radiator work with your FM (non-DAB) stations using any other driver or DLL combination??

The FM Realtek program works just fine.

The non-DAB stations don't work with any other combination of driver/DLL files in Radiator.

I looked in the BlazeVideo directory and found some Realtek plugins, it may be worth looking at these to see if they hold any clues?

In the meantime, would you mind running these 2 programs? They are recompiled versions of the original Realtek DAB sample applications, except I have changed something. If my theory is right, then both programs should do exactly the same as what the original versions did - which is that the FM version works, and the DAB one doesnt (due to lack of signal in your area). There should be a yellow status message at the top mentioning MP3Car.com.

I'm pretty sure that I'm getting closer to solving this now having re-looked at the notes and sample app from Realtek. Maybe I should splash out the GBP£10 and buy the actual hardware to test with myself as the cash outlay is relatively small
