I've got the sdk and installed with the bundled drivers. Started up the software and can confirm it scans and plays the station. No info comes up but at least there's sound :-) I will try and have a look at the source over the next day or so when I get chance. As for the v5 and FreeICE. I've got the DAB part fully working with all the presets etc. Auto tunes. I've just got to add acouple of indicators and then I will pm you over a link to test if that's ok? Not looked at the FM part as yet and Alpha8 will most likely not come with that option, will see how it goes.

    Thanks

    Steve
Have tested the V5 and its working great, few adjusment here and there is all thats needed. Details is on your PM. Cheers

ibf, I hope that makes a bit more sense to you than me!! So it looks like we can get the text and other information by going the extra step and stripping it out of the other returned fields.

    Best wishes all,

    Andrew
Ok thats great, atleast we know where we stand. It would be silly to work on their example when they can provide a much better and suited one.

More members want to have a play with the SDK but Ill do some more see what I can come up with. Will let you know.

Just to let people here know... the USB version does work with the SDK. That is what I have right now and it work just fine, bought it from ebay for 9.99 including free shipping.

As for the sensitivity, although I havent done a proper test the realtek is not too bad compared to the venice. The only problem is the software feel very clunky and the lack of features.

Got it from this ebay seller

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380366878976

There are other brands but they are basically the same. The link above is for a confirmed USB DAB with realtek. The packaging says its a digital TV but because it uses the realtek chip it is also capable of receiving DAB/FM, just use the correct SW to get the DAB/FM working.

I think that seems to be the hardest thing to find out with a lot of companies, is what chipset their units are using.

Would be so much easier if they at least said the chipset model...but I guess for most windows users it doesn't matter, it only becomes an issue when you want linux drivers for it, or want to use it in a different way (Like this!).

Awesome to see you getting results ibf, and thanks for the comparison between this and the Venice units.

Well I have had a quick play this afternoon
Took me a while to figure out but got the software working and listened to some radio
Tried TotalMedia 3.5 but it didn't think I had a radio tuner.. At this point I plugged in our TV antenna and the original software picked up the digital signal.
Next step was to try the sdk and both the FM and DAB demo programs worked for me which is awesome.
Just tried running both the FM and DAB programs together and unsurprisingly the results were a little weird
I tried this as I often leave the city and would be interested in having the radio automatically switch between DAB and FM as required.. but that might be a bit tricky.
Guess next step is to try to figure out what those programs are doing and start trying to write my own..

Great news that the sample software is picking up, good to see!

Yep, the documentation says that you have to close the FM and initialise the DAB, and vice versa to switch. However, if you have one of the dual tuner units (I have one), you can run both simultaneously, as one uses one chip, and the other uses the other chip.

Interestingly, I can take my dual tuner DAB unit in my desktop, and I can use one of them in my main windows install, and share the second tuner with a virtual machine, and it happily works, so the basic design of the chipset seems to be pretty robust, but also very simple.
