I also installed the win8DP on my Car-PC (eeepc T91MT 2GB ram) still with riderunner as frontend.
The Developer Preview is untouched already faster than my highly modified Windows 7.
Win7 (~450mb ram usage) took abour 22sec until i heard music after pressing the powerbutton, on win8DP (~600mb ram usage) it takes only about 16 sec !!! :heh:
The System installed and played the first sound on my creative usb soundcard after only about 3 seconds after i plugged it in, so the initialization of components is really really fast
It`s running rocksolid and all apps i need are running flawless and fast including Multitouch :)
Metro activated is also using less memory than working with the "classic" menu.
so now i`m searching for some mod`s to reduce the ram usage to get to the 280mb usage which microsoft said that it will only use...

Do you need activation for the developer download on MS website?

Nope, I don't think so.

Well, just installed Windows 8 in the music partition on my TabletPC. And you know what? It dual boots by default!!!
Awesome. Here's the picture attached.

So no worries. I can still use my customized install of Windows 7 while playing with Windows 8 goodness! BTW, it's touchscreen enabled, so no need to pick up your keyboard to make your selection. Great.

It looks like I'll be installing my other SSD after all! Win8 has been running CF stably for a day now in my VirtualBox, so now I want to see how it handles my actual TruckPC now that I have a decent PSU I can use when I have it "on the bench." :)

Have you guys seen this? I've read that microsoft is going to take up to a 30% cut of store sales as well (not 100% positive though)...
"Microsoft has declared that the Windows Store will be the sole distributor of Metro apps. Which translates to the users being restricted to the Windows store for legally downloading and installing Metro Apps for Windows 8..."
Rest here: http://windows8beta.com/2011/09/wind...-of-metro-apps
Edit: Looks like the metro side of things won't support flash either...
I'm currently downloading the win 32bit version since it's the smallest iso size (would love the 64 bit + tools). Is the difference in 32 vs 64 prevalent in win8 or does it still not matter that much? Also, looks like win8 supports touchscreens/multi-touch from the get go, so how has experience been with lili's/xenarcs if anyone has tried that route yet?

I'm giving it a shot. I just got the drivers working properly on my cruddy computer but I am still having one issue. Does anybody know how to close an open app? The only way I can figure out how to get out of one is to press the windows key but the app stays open in the background with out manually closing it through task manager.
-
I think you're not supposed to close them, theyre either very small like 200kb or the OS will close it for you if youre out of resources. Like a phone app, youre not suppose to manage this, and I like that.
If it's a big old fat windows app, there will be the close button as usual.

Huh. I must say that I'm not too fond of that. In all reality they are actually a bit heavy. One of the games used 100Mb of ram and over 3/4 of the CPU while running in just the background. The weather app used all of the CPU and 1Gb of ram running in the background. It took about 3 minutes just to open task manager so I can close it.

Something must be wrong. The app shoUld have been suspended or frozen.
Also you can try alt+f4 it works for some apps.
