Why... I know its not out yet but it will have a blue tooth / rs232 interface with GPRS etc....

It would certainly enhance the Carpc in a simular way to the Fairlady interface is going to do.

Another example of this sort of interface can be found in the VDO Dayton Sat Nav systems which interface and control compatible Nokia phones - ie text msgs - calls etc....

Why not use something more "sexy"...

    Camera phone
    Bluetooth™ wireless technology

You can keep it in you pant...and use it from the pc via Bluetooth.

    Also for internet acces, e-mail...

I know you can do that but you could hide the other... also if in the case me you may not be able to use technology like that where you work.

The 810 could be one with the system... ( Very Matrix reloaded ) how ever I do agree with you.

Personally I like to have both a carphone and mobile - plus the added advantage is if you have a car phone tied in it could be part of the carPC security system..... along with the GPS... Not sure how yet but thats phase two for me ( if its even possible ).

Do any of these phones with GPRS connect to a computer with plain old RS232 for those speeds or is blue tooth the only option.
I have yet to find a bluetooth device that works flawlessly. Also dont want to have to rely on a bluetooth device. Serial is more widepsread and in embedded devices.
I just want to send AT commands and get high speed data.

Doesnt help having a Sony laptop and Sony Erricson phone that dont talk to each other over bluetooh. Incompatible

There's plenty of phone with rs232 option...

You could buy a cheap Siemens on ebay hardwire it to you rs232. And use it with your PC for data or phone through AT cmd
