I still think this is the main point over all the others. You need someone at the top that can take some decisions and like you said be a dictator that keeps the goals and the visions. Now getting some in that role isn't too hard I think. Getting someone to follow along is a different story... To get people on-board a full roadmap and proper plans must be laid out otherwise people tend to jump to other things.

I may have failed to clarify what I mean,

What I meant is for a frontend to be cross compatible , say multi OS , has soft and hardware support for most if not all plugins available , and yes , frontend being the OS would be awesome , but the trouble with android is that it wont run on pc hardware

if android could be made compatible with our sort of hardware it would kick *** , there are already thousands of apps available , and natively has support for gps/bluetooth/wifi/3g etc etc.

now I am not a programmer so I havent got a clue if it is even possible to make android compatible, from what I know about flashing a new rom is that a new rom does depend on drivers for the specific phone hardware , I wonder if it would be possible to write drivers for motherboard support.

    That is true.

Mmm, maybe what I'm thinking and what a lot of people are thinking are a bit different ....

Basically, a version 1 would be just a skin that includes an app launcher.

    Android has seen this already.

Version 2 would start to go deeper and bring out access to more hardware.

Version 3 would turn back and focus keeping up to date with the main OS, meaning that the main OS update won't break compatibilty.

Version 4 would finally start to be what most of us are hoping for.

I just read that webOS is sort-of running on a nexus7. Took the guy a week during school break. Imagine what could be done with a GUI like that! Also I could see them needing some love from a relatively big group of people.

Android with all it's faults still has a huge developer and hardware community. Plus I can see google dropping some pennies on a project.

There is still the idea of petitioning pioneer/appradio to open up to a trial group, this might allow them to test the waters and not get them involved too much.

My idea revolves around basically taking an all ready some what useful OS and going from there. This means that OS will also hopefully will have developers who are interested in the idea I'm proposing. This will also bring in lots of fresh blood and ideas and at the same time open the doors to more people who probably never have thought of a PC in a car being feasible and doable but yet have thought what it would be like to have one!

I live in an area with close to 3 million people and I have yet to find somebody that can claim they have the XP chime in their car and shop people come out to marvel at the concept. There is definite a want factor if it doesn't involve fighting with wiring and blue screens of death at the same time,

However, it still comes down to us as a community wanting to voice our opinions in a some what unitary way.
