    Question Need Help with DOS

    Guy's I'm new on these, I think DOS will work good because no shut down probs (if enyone knows othe os like these please tell me), I wanted to ask you guy's how can I make DOS recognize more than 2 gigs, because I'm using a 20 gigs disk for my car mp3 player

    or what os do u think guys I should use, I want a fast start up, and not to have problems with the sutdown, just cut the energy

    i've thought about using dos, i'm still not sure what to do yet. i like how you can turn it off and it won't complain when you turn it back on like windows. yeah dos dos only recongise 2 gig partition so you would have to have 10 drives if you use a 20 gig harddrive.

    well with Linux you can setup your harddrive as read-only and that should cover the shutdown problem.
    Windows doesnt have much of a problem with turning off the pc without shuttin down.
    I mean people do it all the time, and I havent heard of a problem yet.

    DOS can recognise big partitions, you just need to use DDO (dynamic drive overlay) software.

    my xp machine has been just shut off without shutting down for at least a year now with no complaints as long as I stop the music before I shutoff, and anyways if I want to wait for it to shutdown it takes like 5 secs for it to do a proper shutdown using the shutdown button in mediaengine
