Good news for cross platform apps

I noticed from slashdot that Mplayer (the linux app) went v1 and also the windows version is out and is pretty stable. I tried it out on windows and it works just like its windows counterpart. I also read there's a mac version that is on the way.

This could be big news to people that want to develop an all in one solution. I'm not sure how remotes would work.. cross platform but I've decided to try to go full steam ahead on my linux app.

I've bough 3 python books for $12 total.. amazon used books rule btw.

LOL.. that helps. I didn't see a link on their site for a windows version, only in the release notes that they made a port. SO, i figured the windows version was in the same d/l.. guess not!! Thanks hijinks

I think you need lirc to provide remote control libraries to mplayer. Not sure if the Win32 precompiled binaries have this yet?

hehe, i've used mplayer a lot recently.. it's good, 'cept you sometimes have to fix your own bugs.. playlists are a bit broken (like command line settings don't always persist), and in the linux version there's the infamous nvidia blue bordered displays when you use xv or any sort of accelerated stretching...

there's also all the crazy stuff it can do, like output display to aalib and apply 2xsai to images in realtime.. ^^ not that you'd need those in a car mp3 system..

ya.. on a side note.. i think i'm teaming up with a developer that wants to do the same thing as me. More of a easier and better looking freevo. He said he's got dvd working and its fully skinnable so I might make a branch of his code for us car people. His code isn't released but it looks nice from screenshots I've seen
