via id3 tag?
theres a (couple) prog on http://www.download.com
that will let u rename files according to id3 tag.
so u can do a rename like
/%artist/%album/%artist-%trackname.mp3
not sure name of exact prog
Anyone know of a good music organizaion program? What i am looking for is one that will look at my files, and actaully put them into new folders, according to whatever paramaters (likley artist/album).. I found some software that would do this, in the program, or save it as a playlist, but not that would actually physically move the file structure.. Any software like this??
Reason being is I have about 1000 music files just random sitting in 1 folder, and i dont want to take the time to go through each one and put them into correct dir and sub directories..
thx

Looks like MediaMonkey 2.0 is the program on Download.com you are refering too???
ahhhh here we go
tagscan/tagscanner
and to do the artist/album/artist-trackname.mp3.....
use
%1\%3\%1- %2
not sure if mediamonkey can do subfolders
Mediamonkey renamed the files great, via tags, but what I am really looking for is a program that will look at the file names/tags and then put all the like files together in a folder. So I don't have to putt all these in subfolders manually Are there programs that do this?
hahahahh talk about being lazy. j/k
I looked for one like that, didn't come up with it...maybe one that compares file size? But I ended up just doing it by hand.
I thought it said it did do that in Media Monkey?? Maybe I misread the features list?!?
Tag and Rename rules!!!!! And that's that! LOL
