Just Got my XM-PCR!! I LOVE IT! I won't have time to put it in my car until Thursday, but I am enjoying it right here on my desktop!! Even my favorite local talk shows from Orlando are on!! Channel 152

I Highly suggest that everyone should go get an XM! (sorry non Americans)

Gork: I love your app so far! I can't wait to see a finished version, The best feature I think is the Memory Presets! Are you going to make it skinnable?

edit : I think somebody mentioned earlier about taking off the channel update bar (the one that is constantly flipping through channels) I agree that it should be gone. I keep finding my eyes being drawn to it unconsciously.

    MeanGT:

Thanks for the complements. It will be skinnable insofar as the UI will be done in flash so just adding your graphics/etc to the .FLA file and making up a new .SWF for the application should allow you to do anything you want with the UI.

Again, the status bar at the bottom is in there for debugging only. I really meant "alpha release" when I said it

^^^^^ We might need a brief tutorial on that, ^^^^^

another idea, I would REALLY like to see a feature added that would allow me to just type in a channel number and the program will go to that channel. I can then program the number pad on my remote to actually output those numbers. That way if I am in my car, I just punch ie: 009 into my remote, and it goes to channel nine, or 152 and it goes to 152. I think would make for much easier in-car control.

Thanks Again for the hard work.

Sorry to be confusing. It's going to be really simple: Open the file in flash. Edit to your desire. Export it back out. Run the program. Anyone familiar with Macromedia Flash on a basic level will be able to change the interface.

Yes, it will have direct channel typein.

XM has a 'Refer a friend' program...the person referring gets a free month of service and the person being referred gets a $20 rebate on their XM Radio from XM. So if you are going to buy/activate an XM radio forward your email address that you will activate with to GORK, MeanGT, myself, etc. The person referring will submits your email address to XM as a referral, XM will email you with a referral code, you enter the referral code when you activate and the applicable parties are then eligible for rebate/free month service.

Good point if anyone feels like supporting this site, enter natwilson@natwilson.com as a referal. We should support the author(s) of this program too.

My email is johnl@blurbco.com. If you'd like to use me as a referrer, that would be really nice since apparently I would get a free month of service :-) Just shoot me an email and I'll put your address in the form so you can save your $20 too. Man if I'd have known this, I'd have gotten the XMPCR for $30! -- what a steal. My friend who has XM could have referred me. It's also my paypal address if you feel the need to spur development I know QuickCarl asked about it

By the way, I added the TOSLINK optical output kit from xmfanstore to my XMPCR. It makes a world of difference! There is no popping when the radio turns off and on and no awful interference from my car -- the radio was picking up something from the electrical that made it whine when i accelerated...

    Check your mail Gork...

BTW, I had to add a second sound card (USB) to get rid of my hiss, works great though.

    Hi Gork!
I purchased my XM PCR and installed it in my car. When I try to run your program, I get a message that says "please wait" and then the entire machine jsut freezes right up solid. I have to power down using then power button and then restart the machine. Any ideas? I have installed the VB6 runtime files, could this be something else?

    Gork,

I am trying to install your XMPCR Car app on my carputer (I have previously installed is successfully on my desktop) and I am getting the following error right away when I click on the .EXE

MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependancies not correctly registered: a file is missin or invalid

I have installed VBrun60.exe. The other problem I have is that I cannot see 'Blurbco' in the registry to change to COM3. I imagine the .EXE has to run successfully in order update the registry options.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
