    Guys...... dumb question time....

This XM, it sounds like you are talking about ordinary digital radio. Can you confirm that, or is it something else?

    Hi!
make sure you have mscomctl.ocx in your c:\windows\system32 folder and then go to a command prompt and use regsvr32 to reregister the file. I think the command will be regsvr32 mscomctl.ocx.
That should get rid of that error for you. I don't know what will happen next!

MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependancies not correctly registered: a file is missin or invalid

I have installed VBrun60.exe. The other problem I have is that I cannot see 'Blurbco' in the registry to change to COM3. I imagine the .EXE has to run successfully in order update the registry options.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Chut, you are the man! I followed your reconmendation and problem solved, the gui comes up. I did a search on my desktop machine and found that the the mscomctl.ocx file was included in the 'replacePCR' software I downlaoded a while ago (your software is much better) which explains why I didn't have this problem when I downloaded to my desktop machine (both machines using win2k)

    Thanks for your help

Thanks for the compliments, but it isnt my software. I'm having a different issue with my car pc. And am waiting for a possible solution. I've just seen that error before with another software.

I am having the same problem with the .ocx file. It's nowhere to be found! i installed VBRUN60SP5. I also have a Delorme USB GPS hooked up. That could get interesting when I'm trying to get this set up.
    Configuration EIPA M1000 Win 98SE.

BTW, your free month should be on its way. Activated today.

    chut:

I really have no idea what the problem might be with yours there.. If the machine freezes solid, it's probably due to a driver issue.. My app is pretty basic in what it does and doesn't do anything low-level with hardware at all, except for reading/writing to a com port. Is the right port shown in the registry? Does the regular XM software work on the same machine?

Sorry also to everyone having file issues.. I did not want to release a full installer at this point, so please bear with me. AFAIK, you need three files to use this: VBRUN600.DLL, MSCOMM32.OCX, MSCOMCTL.OCX

If you are looking for a nice piece of software to be easy to install and use full-time in the car, i'd recommend waiting for the final release, which I'll be getting out there as soon as I can

Finally got it working! I had to go through the process of installing all of the sopporting software for Replace PCR. After I did that and tweaked the registry (needed to use Com4) everything started working! Now all I need is my touchscreen monitor and I'll be cruising.
Please keep us informed of any updates. Thanks for all the hard work.

    Hey!
If I use an unpowered usb hub, what port should I set the device to?

Gork, A big thanks again. I just did the protyping install on my Car Computer and your program saves the day. Replace PCR seems way too finicky for this application (Car Touchscreen). Your big preset buttons work like a charm! Let me know if you make any improvements.

Awesome!....... I'm just going to go sit in my car for awhile.......
