Ptcruiser: Sorry, last time I used google and downloaded the wrong mediacruiser. That other thing sucked big time.
Your software is pretty cool. It's something that I'd want.![]()
Can you implement a 'file-delete' button for me?
Stan: You just solved one of my problems. I'm eternally grateful.![]()
I guess if I have a 11-CD program, I can just type in "disk5" and jump there.
Frodo: For most people, database indeed is the best solution.
But I put all my mp3 in a 2.5" usb drive, so I can bring it in the car, office.
Most of the time, the drive is turned off.
I try really hard to keep things organized by arranging files in easy-to-find directories.

I also think a problem is that ID3 tags are often missing information, or contain the wrong information. Updating the ID3 tags of 3000 mp3's is a rather daunting task. What would u suggest the search parameters be based on?Originally Posted by frodobaggins
I prefer to use all search parameters, directory, genre, album, artist, filename, etcOriginally Posted by greaper007

I don't know if this is of any use to you all but I figured I throw in my two cents.
I just run winamp two so that every time it starts it adds and plays my entire mp3 folders. No matter what changes i make to my mp3's it picks em up automatically. I have one button on my remote wich restarts winamp. Its pretty hand coz every day or so I fill my USB key up with "new" favorites and just hit the refresh button and my new files start playing. From memory I think I use [c:\progra~1\winamp.exe e:\ d:\mp3\]
Its simple but it works for my system
My VS fits in the catagory of simple and cheap mp3car,
I run a blind system at the moment with a lappy in the glove box, It lives there with a fairly modest 6 gig drive.
Now during the week it runs 24 hours a day I turn it off on weekends (after I ran it flat once). Its a pain in the arse to turn on at the moment coz I have to pull it out turn it on and put it back again, but im putting a switch on the outside VERY SOON. (maybe next month).
well

Don't worry it's all sorted out, for those who of you are worried about slow database building and update times then have a look at the system tests i've just ran on my code:
System (PIII-550, bugger-all RAM, g/f on ICQ, taskbar full) aka Farking SLOOOW
- Initial build (1800+ mp3's): 02:12s
- Deleted 300+ files then rebuilt: 00:02s
- 300+ files added then rebuilt: 00:25s
The above database builder was reading both id3v1 and v2 tags and was running in debug mode.
What is this for you ask? Why should you care? Well being an advocate of "competition breeds innovation" releasing yet another "Media Player", unlike other players out there and players to come all source code will be released.
Current features:
- Everything is skinnable (Controls, visuals, etc)
- Everything is playable (mp3's, avi's, divx's, rm's, mpg's, DVD, Radio, etc)
- Everything is runnable (GPS, games, developer's plugins, etc)
- Anything is possible...
