Curious, in the configuration app it always resets to zero when I run it, although it seems to save okay. Once I set it to 10 it *seems* to do the right thing but instead of seeing MapPoint I see a black screen. I I switch to the media player I see mappoint int he small window though, and it does not show as a separate app on the task bar.

I see, added one big directory. My MP3's are all in one, it was more convenient for a network media player I was using. Wonder if I can find an app that'll resort them for me! )

    Awesome!

One other question... what do you write it in? VB? Delphi? Cool app, thanks.

Ha ha! You're double-clicking the GPS icon. Only single-click it. Double click enables a feature that someone asked for a while ago - basically replacing the Visualisation with the GPS app (all on one screen, only really useful with bigger skins). If you don't double-click at all, or if you double-click again, it'll be where it should be

    And I write in Delphi.

Ah ha! Found my map again! Not sure I understand what the double-click did... for me the GPS app just vanished.

I have my MP3's playing now... one huge list though, need to get organized.

And another Q : Night/Day - should clicking the Moon/Sun change the Gamma Ramp? doesn't seem to for me.

Also... seems most people like WinAmp, as you have to go to a lot of trouble to handle the files might it be easier to just integrate WinAMP in with CarBox? I haven't used it much but I'm assuming it has quite capable playlist features already, reinventing the wheel and all that.

Your GPS was relocated to where the visualisation normally sits on the main MP3 screen.

The moon/sun chick should change the gamma, assuming you've configured gamma in the configurator. In configurator when you press "test darkness" it should darken to where you've set it. If it doesn't it means your graphics card (or more likely drivers) don't support it. Try updating video drivers, directx etc.

Hmm, my driver allows me to adjust the gamma Display/Advanced but it's a bit weird, it only lets me ramp up. If I take the brightness/contrast down and the ramp up it looks *okay* and I can then ramp down to darken it.

However neither CarBox or the GammSlider at "The Code Project" will adjust my gamma. I guess I have a non-standard adjustment of some sort. This is a big issue for me as the screen lights up the whole car at night. Do you think it is viable in Delphi to overlay an image and adjust it's transparency to achieve similar results, this was something I had contemplated.

This is a Kick *** Feature. The GPS program I am using in the skin pic is routis 2004. I had to update my skin as soon as I seen this. Here is the version 1.78 of my skin. I cam up with 1.78 because I had made probably some where around 178 changes till I was satisfied. Its basically a highbrid of the default skin, with a few changes... The only thing I would like to see different is, when you close out the GPS program, it switches back to the media player visualization.

    Sy,

Is it possible to adjust brightness and contrast in the same way you do the gamma ramp? I'm thinking that for people without gamma support this could be a means of achieving a similar night view.

Never mind, I just tried this app http://www.bytegems.com/resman.shtml and the brightness/contrast do not work on my monitor. This is very frustrating but I guess this implies it's all or nothing for a given adaptor.

There seem to be a lot of tutorials on transparency in delphi, I wonder if making the form more transparent would lessent he overall brightness, I'm wondering how this would affect the embedded apps.

I have written an app that will dim the screen, see here... http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...074#post165074 I cannot post the file as it is just over the limit, I can mail it to anyone who may be interested though.
