    Sy,

I can now, in Delphi, dim the screen without Gamm Correction in Delphi. I have done this in Delphi 6 and it will work for any Win2k and WinXP machine. It basically displays a full-screen borderless form over the entire screen, makes it partially transparent using the AlphaBlend. The forms properties are overridden with WS_EX_TRANSPARENT which makes it ignore any mouse clicks, therefore, with it always on top, varying the AlphaBlend effectively dims the screen.

Would you be interested in integrating this code? It's really only about 5 lines of code and could be a viable alternative when gamma correction doesn't work. I can send you the sample project source if you would like.

Another option might be if I keep it similar to how it is now but use command line switches then launch it from a button in your app... hmm...

    Chris.

Is there anything that can be done to help CarBox look a little better on a 600 x 800 screen? I am running in portrait and it hangs off the screen and doesn't fill it vertically.

    You have 2 options.

    1. Quick and dirty - edit the skin.ini and change displaywidth to 600 and displayheight to 800. It'll fill your screen but obviously look stretched and warped.

    2. Create your own 3:4 aspect ratio skin.

I believe Destinator 3 still has this limitation as it was originally designed for the PocketPC. I just wanted to make sure this isn't the case with other packages I consider.

So in short... of you were of a mind to... you could create a route from Boston to LA using Routis...?

    Chris.
I believe so. I am not sure how it would work on an Ipaq but on a laptop or computer. No problem.

    Sy,

I seem to get skipping in Destinator voice prompts when MP3's are playing, is this typical when it is a comapritively slow processor? Have you seem this before? I am guessing it is just missing portions of the prompt, like it will miss "turn left" etc.

I think that's just destinator, I've seen other people having a similar problem, when it will just say "yards" for no apparent reason, with nothing to clarify

I'll try to test more tonight, in particular if it works more cleanly when MP3's are not playing.

    CarBox 0.7 is here!

After what seems like forever, I've now release CarBox 0.7!

Been a while since my last update, as I've recently started a new job so had to spend my time working

Anyway, new features in 0.7 include: -

Album View - This option will let you view your whole directory subtree as one big, sorted list of albums. It searches all your MP3 directories and displays all the "leaf" directories as albums in a list. Try it, you'll soon see what it does. Works best if you arrange your files as \MP3Path\Artist\Album\Song.
Drill To File - You can now drill right down to files (MP3, AVI etc) rather than just directories, so you can add individual songs etc.
Progress Box - To make it more obvious that CarBox is busy doing "stuff", there's now a popup that shows progress.

The skinner and spaceskin aren't 0.7 compatible yet, but they will be shortly.

    Enjoy,

    Sy
