You can launch an external app. The Keyboard button at the top is an external app button, just by default it's programmed for OSK. Edit the CarBox.ini and change the ExternalApp= line to point to what you want. Then either keep the keyboard icon, or create your own skin.

I will probably make an option in a release soon to have the GPS button either use Destinator, or launch GPS app of your choice. But for now the keyboard option should do you!

In fact, how about I make it so you can embed basically any application (MapPoint, CoPilot, MS Word, IE etc) within the application? Of course I won't be able to create extra buttons to control all those apps, but at least you won't have to Alt-Tab to your other software!

Just done a quick test with MapPoint and MS Word and this works, so look out for update soon

That would be sweet, that is what I was looking for in ME 2.0. ME 2.0 doesnt continue playing MP3s while you to to ext. apps either so I have to say your program is a little more supperior hands down. Of course ME is better known but I will continue to use CarBOX. THANKYOU for you hard work

Latest update is now available. Fixed a couple of annoying quirks, and added a basic option to embed any other software instead of Destinator (have tested with MapPoint and MS Word, I guess CoPilot and the like should work too).

It's basic at the moment (see README file), but this is it working: -

MS Word, for those who are on the go all the time!



The way it works WILL get better, but I've put it in for now so people can at least use it.

It's not brilliant at the moment though. Currently it finds the handle by searching all open windows for the title you give it, eventually I'll enumerate all windows to get the window handle based on the process ID, or module ID.

Also need to figure out how to (if possible) tell the application to send me a message when it's closed, so I can tidy up and let you re-execute the application if needs be.

Unless the app sends a broadcast, you'll probably be out of luck.

I suggest you just run a timer to poll whether the instance of said application
is still running, which will allow it to work with almost any application.
