    Angry fragmented C: drive HELP!!!!!!!!!

hey guys, i gow and old 5+ years HP nothing special says inter inside but that is all w/out stripping it i wanted to free up memory and fragment and delete the old files of the people who gave it to me. so, i ran a fragmenting program and was iratated with the questions offered every 5 seconds compress this, delete that........... so i got ****ed and impatiant and ran it's own auto complete program. 4 hours later my computer won't go now.

    problems

computer boots up says hit spacebar to abort mem. check. you do that and it goes ahead anyway

next, it finaly comes to a screed that reeds not enough mem. for windows 95 quit 1 or more applications. press any key to continue. so, i hit ANY key and it flashes with it is now safe to turn on your comp.

any ideas, i'm at a loss and feel dumb any help will be greatly appreciated

Sounds like your system is totaly rotted out. The best thing to do would be to wipe the drive, reformat and reinstall. While you can reinstall windows over the old install, you'll probably just run into new problems and inherit the old ones. Back up what you can't afford to lose and reformat.

Can I suggest after a rebuild you format it like this...

This way you can keep it less fragmented...

I suggest you go with gigs instead of percent, but this is probably a really old 1-4gig drive, so keep it all on c if you ever manage to install

never install windows over top of itself unless you plan to format. UPdating system files with updates and patches, then reloading old files over top of new one sis asking for a headache.
