All the features seem nice. I don't think I could stand that voice though. And if this is going to be released it should have a rock solid set of software. I would hate to be driving next to someone who just had a system crash, or can't figure out how to do something, I am remembering that video of some guy going crazy on his computer and beating it with a keyboard.

Also, those commercials are way way campy.

I like the features on the bmw mini carputer, like variable volume control, proportunally related to accelleration/speed.

But mostly I just hate that voice. I'd prefer just to have text displayed.

Just my thoughts, take them however you want.
M$ takes an idea that all of you have worked so hard for, then sells it and makes a crapload of money for a subpar product. Am I the only one that thinks they are hopping on the bandwagon of original ideas and exploiting them to make money? Maybe I'm a little extreme, but you have all worked really hard and here is a company commercializing it and taking the fun out of doing your own thing. Just my 2 cents.

what to you think every other company that is making more then 'nuff to pay to light bills is doing in america, and who cares if they "take all the fun out of it
" do something better in your car, just because a company relizes that there is an idea they can make some money off of doesn't mean that these people are going to have to stop the hobby.

I dont think this generation is ready to talk to machines. I'd give it 10 more years. Besides, those videos demonstrate the ideal carpc integration and illegal ones too. I mean c'mon, a DVD full of music and friends sharing music? Also the big brother thing kind of spooks me out when she said "tracking Matt" then gives his location. Knowing Microsoft, half of the **** wont work when its released. Imagine how many people would try to hack other people's cars. In the video, the carPC ran a self dianostic check and found the gascap was loose. Hackers would find a way to hack into the carpc and change the reminder for changing the timing belt schedule or disable the ABS sensor or something and next thing you know bam your car crashes. Skynet is just around the corner.

Just imagine. In that second video the car warned the driver about the petrol cap. With a Microsoft product controlling/monitoring all aspects of your car, then that article above would come true.

Also Imagine a news report like this:

Cars from all across the globe today suddenly stopped and locked their passengers in, causing international traffic jams costing cities millions of dollars in lost revenue. Windows had to smashed in order to get the occupants out. Officials and car manufacturers a baffeld to what the cause is.

This just in. We have just received word that a virus exploiting the Microsoft Automotive Consoles caused the world wide crash.

    Another new report:

Yes its true. Microsoft announced today that their car software needs to be activated before the car will run.

    > Imagine this: Your driving accross country miles from anywhere. All of a sudden the tyre blows out. Your not to worried, you have a spare and change it without hassel. You get back into your car and turn it on. All of a sudden, your car reports that new hardware is detected and says that the system needs reactivation or the car will be disabled. You try activating over the internet, oh no your out of range for wireless internet. You try activating over the phone, again oh no - there is no coverage out here. No what do you do?

Even if you could get internet access, the system reports that this system has been activated to many times or it has been actiavted on another machine.

Has anyone seen that picture floating around the net of a billboard with an Audi (i think) and the caption says "Our car runs better without Windows."
We are, will have and forever will be...
    But not tommorrow!

ya imagine the tracking. IE already allows enough spyware on your system without you knowing it. Next time you are at a redlight a door to door sales man knocks on your window wanting to sell you penis enlargement pills.
