I made a new page for AIS:

    http://www.stars-gazer.com/~ais/

Source and bin files are uploaded.

That does makes sense. However, it would be nice to be able to write an app that can "fit in" with the rest of the framework. To this end, will there be any sort of library that can be used for skinning, etc.?

Well, try it out. Think of AIS as a shell/interface that will enable you to load any regular application. How does that sound?

Update: I got Text to speech done. Voice Command should be ready by tonight.

Update: TTS can now read the tags (announcements) via statements in the ini file.

    Day/Night skins are back on.

VR lines are included on ini (I have to put it on the core though and I am looking for someone who can do VR on VB6). I think I can do it. I digged enough help files today.

Clock/Date are now switched via clicking on them.

Future Info: I will get the rest of the sections done. Section1 is 85% done. TTS/VR needed to be finished. Once finished, I can clone it to the other sections.

Section 4 is still where it is and the ini setting control will be updated and finished off. I am looking for a good volume control coder/code. I got some up my sleeves but they are not the greatest.

    Finally the link: http://www.stars-gazer.com/~ais/

One more: I am going to switch the format of the damn page. Although it's very organized, I have to update 4 different places to list a updated source/binary file. Too much work.

It's all looking good so far. Do you plan to include a dedicated web browser and TV Support?

Web browser : Most likely yes. If not, I'll include something that will work and is freeware and with permission of the owner like many things I am going to include like MAME and such.

TV: Depends on a couple of things. I have 2 cards with turners at the moment. My car computer (espresso PC will have to use USB for TV/Radio) so it will depend on what I end up getting. But if you have a TV app, currently if you point to it from the ini file, it will load inside the AIS.

I just installed winXP back on my development machine and none of my TTS/VR are working and the code is not compiling now.... so I have to fix that first.

Another update: We are on Version 2.1 now and guess what? THIS IS PRETTY MUCH DONE. I have 3 tiny glitches to fix and it'll be released as 2.11 tomorrow if I have time. The core as I can envision it is done! Yay.

    Release 2.1
    - New re-write of code for cleaner code
    - Code Optimized
    - Code now function as a full core with no other programs attached (ie adjustments) as a part of the core
    - Day/Night skins have their own ini so you can just point to the ini for the skins.
    - Bright/Dim icon added (feature are not included yet though).
    - All commands now have TTS feature. Go get some good TTS Voice engine. I have AT&T True voice so I am happy.
    - As of this update missing codes include: Home TTS code and a slight skin touch up codes.

I am going to start working on modules now. I will update the core code with the first module release.

Modules to come are : Skinning module / Configuration module than mp3, video and GPS modules with more on the way (like automanager to keep track of your fuel fill ups, your checkup reminders, total cost of items etc)

I am going to start working on 800x484 version as well.

What else? 2.1 release does not have Voice Command yet. I am working on it. I assume that Voice Command should be included by the time I do a next major release. Anyone with VR coding skills can help.

Edit: I need to add an option for shutdown/hibernate/quit program as well. I just noticed that. I used to have that on 2.0.9 but since I redid the software from scratch, that is gone.

Edit # 2: 2.1.1 on the site as well. It was a small code update so... Have a look tell me what it needs.

Did you install the speech package? You need to install a speech package and a TTS engine.

Or I can make a setup file with all the DLLs inside. It's not fully done yet so I don't want to make a setup yet. Let me know if you want me to make a setup file.

On the second thought, I am getting it on my live machine too. I'll look into it. I got a new version out too. 2.2 is now done for Widescreen 800x480 as well as 800x600. I created the application holder the same size so that all the add on softwares can be written once and they all will fit nicely in either.

Those with VB should not have trouble loading up at all.

I'll upload both 2.2 versions tonight. I'll also look into why the damn thing is giving me error.
