Faster Linux boot times

Well for all your linux people out there.. this is a good one. I just compiled kernel 2.6.0-test11 on and included it in my wardrive partition. I was booting in around 23 seconds. I just booted in 10 seconds. Thats with a standard kernel config for the most part. Sound driver added and some wifi additions but thats about it. I'd check it out if you want a fast boot

Is that just for the kernel boot or does that include X and your window manager as well?

sereph, from someone in the forums.. i might be selling it and using my carpc as a htpc setup. I never use it anymore.

frodobaggins.. i don't use X in my wardrive distro.. but I just compiled 2.6 on my work box and it boots into X in around 22 seconds. Thats loading a lot of services also

Kernel 2.6 is awsome, it cut 15seconds off my boot time on my work box. That is running a ton of services as well.
