I run the InstallUtil.exe and it opens up for about 2 secs then closes before i can enter anything. I know im probably going about this all wrong so if someone could clear this up for me id appreciate it tia.

DTR will ditch the startup speaker pop by itself but I was also having a turn off speaker pop so that fixed that and its perfect now.
mbk - this is exactly what I need to do for my system. I was already using a relay because I need to turn on two amps at startup. What are the specs on the relay you're using (such as amperages, etc.)?

To all that didnt get this to work, make sure you dont have any "spaces" in your filepath (ie, dont place it on the desktop as it is in c:\documents and settings\...).

I moved it to c:\ampctrl and suddenly, it worked... (You must reinstall the program at the new location afaik)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm trying to get it to work so I don't have to listen to my hard drive spool up.

The ampctrl service works great, DTR voltage swings -11.2v to +11.2v from off to on, and the signal will switch on ONE of my 3 amps. I have an automotive relay switching +12v to my amp REM inputs -- works great but DTR can't power it. I tried an 800 mA NPN transistor to switch the relay but it doesn't work. I measured the resistance across the emitter/collector as well as the output voltage with the service on and off and they don't change.

Does anybody have this kind of setup (with the transistor) or just a good explanation sans electronics skematics? I'm not an EE, they make no sense to me.
