Ok, today turned on the car and the TR-4 turns on when the Volume_Amp_Control tells it too. The benefit is when I turn of the car, the amps shut off and I hear no thump at all. So I highly recommend this device. Thanx loginfailed, this item is the best. I bought mine off of Ebay, 8.99 item with 7.99 shipping.

Not at all. Maybe its the way I have mine setup. I have a relay that activates when I turn the key or use my bypass switch to turn on all the components. In saying that, the TR-4 is hooked up the same way. So when I turn on the key, the device automatically waits 2 seconds, then turns on the amps. Without a program like A_C and V_A_C (im tired of typing them out), we would hear the thumps. When turning off though, the unit shuts off right away, no thump no nothing. Infact when I had it setup the old way, when I turned off my car i would still here music for 5 to 10 seconds after I have shut my car off. With this device the sound is shut off right away. Infact when I turned off my car I thought something broke because I am so used to hearing the music play long after I shut the car off.

PS: The input from the serial port can be any voltage and the out put voltage to the amps is 12V @ 2amps, more then enough for my 4 amplifiers.

Excellent find. I know there are some people here that couldn't get their amps to turn on because there wasn't enough current coming out of the serial port. Hopefully they find this post!

    Hi

is there an easy way to delay the service from running? let's say i want the service to start 3 sec later than it does now...

i searched but could only find a way to delay a service throuhg dependency's (meaning that you can set a service to load only after another service is loaded, but i want to set it to load 3 sec after all "automatic" services are loaded)

Which color wire is the DTR wire in a serial cable? I tried white with the 2n2222 transistor and it doesn't seem to be working.

It depends on the manufactuer of the cable..... I dont think there is a set color... I tested to find pin 4 the ghetto way. i took a needle connected to a LED light that then went to the positive side of a battery. Then i connected the neg side to end of each wire. I then stuck the needle in pin 4 and then moved the battery along the wires on the other end till the light lit up... thats the pin 4 wire.

PS: dont make the 2n2222, just buy a http://www.buy.com/prod/pac-tr-4-low.../90129363.html, its so easy. I turn on 4 amps with this thing with no issues. You can find it on ebay for cheaper.

I find myself using this article frequently for disabling serial port scan and I'm afraid one day it'll disappear from the web, so I've captured it as a PDF file.

I know this happens with XM, HD Radio and my OBD2 scanner, but this actually happens on the serial port with AMP_CTRL connected to it? Its the only serial device in my setup that doesnt act up.
