I use a program called zoomtext for zooming in on maps. IT lets me blow up the whole screen, but pans by moving the mouse. No need to drag the window around over things. The zoomed area is the whole screen. Plus it will read the text, text to voice. Just some ideas. Zoomtext is pretty expensive though.

Here are my suggestions for future features:

    - Variable zoom levels
    - No title bar
    - Make it easy to reposition magnification window by clicking anywhere on program window and dragging. In winamp this is called "EasyMove."
    - Minimize to system tray rather than task bar
    - Snap to text cursor (magnifier automatically follows text as it is being typed

Just tried it on a Duron 750MHz at home, and it's many times faster and smoother than on my 1800MHz Dell at work! Go figure...

I'll try to implement some of the suggestions today. I will at least fix the cpu usage issue !.

WinXP Pro on AthlonXP 2000+, 768mb PC2100 RAM.

Thing works lickety-split, no ****! Good stuff! I'm putting it on the second monitor and keeping it as big as possible to mess with my roommate's heads! It's distracting as all get out to them, and is giving me some more ideas too!

I've just about got the new version finished and it has lots of more features and should work a lot better on everyones system. I'll try to get it out tonight.

Wow... Almost like teh vultures here huh Frodo? Pop a tasty tidbit up for all to see, and it becomes a free-for-all of feature requests for something as simple (yet way cool) as a screen magnifier!
Glad there are people like you on the ball, so the rest of us can have something to bark about. That is, once laughing at the smoking macaque gets boring....
