    XP Users (footprint sizes)

I'm interested to know how small peoples xp footprints are. I have got mine down to 585MB (618 on disk). This is with no updates or service pack 1 and no third party installed. I'm currently getting approx ~35 sec boot from cold (no hibernate) still tweaking to get it faster. Also i have no paging file.

Please let me know your sizes and thoughts.

xp pro sp1, boot is less than 20sec. I havent tried to reduce the footprint size and most likely wont.

What all did you do to get it to boot that quickly? And on what hardware? Sounds like 20secs is great.

didnt do anything special. My motherboard only takes like 5 sec to post so i think that has a good deal to do with it.
Im running a P42.6GHz 512MB Ram and 120GB HD with 8MB cache. which i also think has a lot to do with it, especially the hard drive. I can turn my car on and before i pull out the drive way i can hear windows boot sound.

I'm glad I didn't buy it then. Any particular reason why it's not any good?

Cost, go to tweakxp.com and you can do most of the same stuff for nothing.
Apparently it was overly reliable (according to someone). I think there was a few discussions on it in this forum mid->late last year.
