To all those designing a media interface.

I implore you to allow others to be able to configure sound controls for the different computer setups out there. My Via M10000 has all 6 channels running along but not a single media interface can control all them at once. It is rather annoying to turn down the master volume of the interface and it only lowers the front channel.

Edit: I now realize that my AC3Filter is not allowing the Wave control to have any affect on the audio stream. In other words, I can't lower/raise the volume of my 6 channels unless I go to my audio panel and do it manually. I NEED HELP!

Here is my audio panel with 5.1 sound enabled. I use the CD_in for my AIW TV card sound and I have to adjust each of the channels individually if I want to totally turn down my DIVX movies. I even wrote VIA and asked them to put a master volume in there for the next driver release. They wrote back and said that the WAVE control serves as a master control. WRONG! It doesn't do squat to some audio sources, like my AC3-encoded DIVX movies.

The entire audio panel would have 14 sliders for the following in this order:
Front Speaker, Wave, SW Synth, 3D Depth, Subwoofer, Center, Rear Speaker, Mic, Line In, CD Player, Video, Aux, Phone, PC Speaker.

EDIT: Notice that the "Front Speaker" slider is in the high ranking position where all "Master Volume" controls should be.

The problem I have run into when I thought about doing this is that I would have to code for every possible soundcard driver I could think of. Of course, I could allow the program to trigger the installed audio control panel drivers (such as what you have posted), but that would be cumbersome and it definitely doesn't keep the Windows look out of the interface, which is one thing I was gunning for while creating mine.

It's a pain in the butt I know, but as far as I know, it's almost impossible to code for the soundcard a particular user may have.

Yeah, I see that now...I think Frodo's creation will allow me to use the Wave control to lower the audio source. Now if I can only get that working! Sometimes the media players override the Wave control and it has no affect...I have some sorting to do.

Okay, I have now determined that my AC3Filter is overriding the "wave" control of the decoded stream. I can turn down the Wave slider to 0% and it doesn't affect the movie, CRAP! This means that I have to manually adjust each channel to lower/raise the volume of my movies. Even if I were to have a Wave adjustable interface such as FRODOPLAYER, it would mean that I have to exit to my audio control panel and adjust the sound, quite impossible when you're driving!
Any ideas fellas? Is there anyone out there who knows how to correct this?
