Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2004

Someone should act on this before Ebay shuts it down.

So what's the deal on this?

First of all, why would eBay shut it down. Is it illegal to sell this OS on ebay?

M$ says that this OS can't be install on any PC. It is only for PCs that were specifically built for it. Now, I know that someone will make it work on a user-built PC, but has anyone done it yet?

As far as I know there's only one piece of hardware that makes a media center PC different, the Tv tuner/capture card.
Ebay will shut it down because you're not allowed to buy MCE unless it comes with a MCE pc.

Do a google search for more.

What if you lost the OS somehow? You need to buy an entire PC to get your OS back?

Eh... not interested enough to search.

Um, obviously, if you bought a MCE PC you can always get replacement discs from where you bought it.

I bought mine from an estate sale. No warranty. (Hypothetical situation).

I have MCE 2004 installed on my Car-Puter. I don't use it much, I switch between MediaCar and Media Engine. I get an error everytime I start MCE because I don't have a TV Tuner card installed. After the error it runs fine on an old PIII-700.
