@steve Thats cools. I will try include the CSV import for traffic data in the next version of VOICES.
One more thing the route66 seems to have more traffic data than BBC.

    @steve Great work.
@Satish So with a internet link it may be possible to get traffic updates in Mappoint/Voices - that would be an amazing system.

@chunkymonkey909 thats the plan to begin with. May be later if I can figure out some way to block a part of route in Mappoint to force it to take another route we could reroute to bypass the problem area but thats just an idea rite now don't know how it will workout in mappoint.
@steve Do youknow any webpage where I can get live data for rest of Europe especially Germany

I will spend some of today writing a script to pull the two down, sort them, and produce them as one file from a location that won't change with some decent descriptions etc

@steve Could you write a VBscript or javascript to convert a standalone file. I will then convert in to C++ code. Then I can include a funtionality in VOICES to directly download the file , convert , import and mark it in VOICEs for the next release

    Got some stuff up:

    http://www.stevieg.org/traffic

The route 66 data has some problems, it seems to plot some data in the wrong place. I will look more into this soon. The BBC data however plots correctly in MS Mappoint.

The direct download for the latest traffic info for GB is http://www.stevieg.org/traffic/gb.php

The data above will eventually have more data than the BBC data, the next is the Route 66 data so it can be imported from one file; it is live data so the link can be used rather than re-coding the processing into the application.

I'll have a look for some more data sources for other countries as well, I'll see if I can get the minnessota one working in this format

@steve I am going thru TPEG for some more info. Can you also find out how to get the various images and type of problem so that we can put different icons according to the problem in VOICES

Been having a think, I will want to access the data every ten - fifteen minutes via GPRS. To keep the cost down it needs to be:
Only the traffic data in the nearest 30 miles or so (configurable)
Only updates when required, and only the minimum data

Easiest way to do this would be sending a user id to the website so it can recognise the machine and only send back appropriate data.

This way it would also be possible to allow the user to add their own TPEG source(s) and other types in time, and also choose options such as whether or not to send the description (extra bytes equals extra cash)

I've also had a look at the specs for the type of data, it's all pretty straightforward, and the BBC/TPEG people provide sample icons.

I'm going to make a prototype database driven system for the above tonight and add the URL when I've got somewhere.
