Yet another Car System?
I've been working on AutoTouch. My variant. The idea is to do something that requires no input apart from a touch screen. At the moment I have a version done which could be alpha tested, I've not finished the skinning part. It does Navigation using MapPoint (you'll need MapPoint to use it) and uses the Windows Media Player 9 interface to play music. You can create playlists on the fly, and it does autocomplete when selecting music information (Artist/Album names). It does point to point navigation using any NEMA GPS and MapPoint without using AGPS or the equivalent.
If anyone wants to give it a go, I'll figure out a place to post an MSI.

I would like to test too :-)
car system isnt up yet, but i'd love to bench test it and see how the interface works..... Mediacar didnt quite do it for me
I'm not sure will work but here's a link

It's got some basic skinning in that you can edit the XML file it's hardcoded to read to change which background, which colours etc. Also if you're using MapPoint Europe you'll want to change the North America string in the MBSkin.xml file to "Europe"
The settings button (the two gears) at the bottom does nothing right now,I'm working on what I want it to do, and the DVD button on the left just launches an app (specified by the XML file) as I use it to run a DVD through a decoder board to a TV, while the UI stays ont he touch screen.
The Navigation and the music system work, but it requires that you have MapPoint Installed, and also the .NET Framework 1.1
let me know what y'all think!

I'm getting the following error when running your app:
An exception 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' has occurred in AutoTouch.exe
I'm running Windows XP, fully up-to-date and have .NET framework 1.1 installed. Its actually the "Just-In-Time" Debugger thats picking it up, as i have VS.net 2003 and the .net framework sdk installed.
We are, will have and forever will be...
But not tommorrow!
Okay Alien, any more information than that? You have MapPoint 2004 installed (or whatever the latest version is?)

I had the same problem as AlienEclipse but once I changed the navigation to europe in XML , its running . I will test it in later in the evening.

Thanks, that's great info!
I'll add a try catch around that section for a bit more reliability. Or maybe I'll just change it to try each one and keep the one that succeeds!

I'm just wondering, apparenlty changing the map to europe per my instructions is necessary to get it going. I'm curious for any feedback.
thank you!
